Disney has unveiled the first teaser trailer for its upcoming live-action adaptation of Lilo & Stitch, offering fans their best glimpse yet at the CGI version of the beloved Experiment 626, also known as Stitch. True to form, the mischievous alien is seen gleefully destroying an elaborate sandcastle in the short clip, perfectly encapsulating the chaotic energy that made him a fan favourite in the 2002 animated original.

Accompanied by a reimagined rendition of Mark Keali’i Ho’omalu and Alan Silvestri’s “He Mele No Lilo” from the original film’s soundtrack, the teaser is a nostalgic nod to the movie’s roots while setting the stage for this highly anticipated remake. Alongside the trailer, Disney has also released a new poster featuring Stitch, heightening excitement for the film’s May 23, 2025, theatrical release.
Returning to voice Stitch is Chris Sanders, who not only voiced the character in the original but also co-wrote and co-directed the animated classic. Joining him is newcomer Maia Kealoha as Lilo Pelekai, a spirited young girl from Hawaii who befriends Stitch, helping him discover the meaning of family and love. Sydney Agudong, Billy Magnussen, Tia Carrere, Hannah Waddingham, Zach Galifianakis, and Courtney B. Vance are also set to star, with Dean Fleischer Camp directing.
This live-action remake promises to stay true to the heart of the original story, focusing on Lilo and her older sister Nani as they navigate life after the loss of their parents. The addition of Stitch, a destructive extraterrestrial experiment, brings both chaos and healing to their world, delivering the film’s signature message of “ohana”—that family means no one gets left behind or forgotten.
With Lilo & Stitch landing in theatres next year, we have many more Lilo & Stitch teasers to come. This short teaser trailer follows the reveal of the CGI Stitch at the D23 Expo back in August. Disney fans have much to look forward to as the company continues its streak of live-action adaptations, which also includes Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and Mufasa arriving in 2025.
