Written by Cruz Beckham, Justin Raisen, Lewis Pesacov, Joe Kennedy, and Ainjel Emme, whilst it has been produced by Raisen and Pesacov, the new track marks the second release from the forthcoming project and leans into a high-energy sound, driven by bold guitar riffs and powerful vocals. Performed alongside his band The Breakers, “Seeing Red” captures a lively, unfiltered spirit that ties into the wider theme of the EP—embracing authenticity and expressing yourself fully, whether on stage or in the crowd.
The combination of Cruz Beckham’s emotive, angst-driven vocals with storytelling lyrics centred on competitiveness—something often seen in sports and gaming—adds a relatable edge to the track. Paired with a wild indie-rock sound and a harder sonic bite, the song feels both dynamic and immersive. From the driving guitars and drums to the vocal distortion that mirrors its themes, every element of the production works together seamlessly. With an infectious chorus built around its repeatable title line, “Seeing Red” taps into a feeling many listeners will recognise, making it a track that’s both engaging and memorable.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the single, Cruz Beckham explained: “‘Seeing Red’ is a comedic take on a totally unserious moment of frustration, in this case in sports. Everyone’s competitive nature likes to take over now and then, but it’s all fun and games. ‘Seeing Red’ is a nod to that exact turning point.”
The upcoming EP has been created in collaboration with The Breakers—which is the name of his backing band and consists of Dan Ewins, Telmo Seixas, and Dario Scotti—and was produced entirely by Justin Raisen and Lewis Pesacov, who have previously worked with artists including Kim Gordon, Joji, and Charli XCX. Featuring six brand-new tracks, the project has been shaped with live performance in mind, reflecting Cruz Beckham’s growing presence on stage.
“Seeing Red” follows the release of the EP’s title track “Wear & Tear”, which introduced the core message of the record. Built around bright guitar melodies and an anthemic chorus, the track explores the importance of living life fully and forming genuine connections with others.
Expanding on the meaning behind the EP, Cruz Beckham said: “’Wear & Tear’ is synonymous to a life lived and all your life experiences so far—the good and the bad, the learning curves, and everything in between. No matter how different every human experience is, we all have had at least a few similar emotions that make us all human. We’ve been high and low, in love and in pain, jealous, upset—we’ve lived and learned. We’ve all got our wear and tear.”
The project continues a steady rollout of music from Cruz Beckham this year, following earlier releases including “YEAH YEAH YEAH”, “waste your pain”, and “for your love”, as well as his debut singles “OPTICS” and “LICK THE TOAD”, which marked the beginning of his music career.
Ahead of the EP’s release, Cruz Beckham is also preparing to take his music to a wider audience with his debut US headline tour, alongside appearances at major festivals such as Reading & Leeds, Lollapalooza, Rock N Roll Circus, and Outside Lands.
“Seeing Red” is available to download and stream, right now, across all platforms, via Republic Records, a division of UMG Recordings. His forthcoming EP, “Wear & Tear”, is expected to arrive on August 21, 2026.
