Max Vanderwolf keeps the momentum going with his latest release, “A Time To Die”, which serves as the second installment in the Vanderwolf Singles Club. Officially released on January 25, 2025, the track follows “As The Sun“, which dropped on February 19, 2025, marking an ongoing series of single releases that will ultimately lead up to his forthcoming album later this year.

Accompanying the single is a visually striking music video, which arrived on February 25, 2025. Created by longtime collaborator Alden Volney, the video takes inspiration from the iconic 1970s commercials of animator Robert Abel, blending vintage aesthetics with Volney’s signature style to craft a mesmerising visual experience.
The Second Single From the Vanderwolf Singles Club
A Song Born from Turbulence
Written by Max Vanderwolf whilst it was produced by Chris Wyles, “A Time To Die” is a deeply introspective track, born from Vanderwolf’s real-life experiences of emotional and physical turbulence. Written in Groningen, Netherlands, after a particularly unsettling flight to Amsterdam, the song captures the existential thoughts that creep in when faced with uncertainty.
Talking about the track, he said: “There was a time in my European life when all my travel was paid for. Living in close proximity to the wonderfully diverse European continental nations, it was easy to pick up a cheap flight and go anywhere. But when you’re midair, the plane bouncing around in turbulence, you start questioning your own frivolous motivations.”
Vanderwolf reflects on this moment in the lyrics, questioning, “Can it make much sense, tossed in turbulence, with the ones you love so far behind?”—a sentiment that resonates deeply in the track’s raw and emotive delivery.
Musically, “A Time To Die” is built around Chris Cordoba’s searing guitar synthesiser, which drives the song’s intensity, while Sam Sallon’s layered instrumentation adds depth and texture. The result is a composition that blends Americana laid-back rock with atmospheric elements, reinforcing the song’s contemplative nature.
