Ukrainian titleholder Olena Grytsynger (also known as Elena Grytsynger on social media) has shared an exclusive insight into her experience competing on the global stage at Ms Universe World International 2026, which took place from May 3 to May 7 in Orlando, Florida. Representing Ukraine in the prestigious competition, Grytsynger was named a “Universe International Feature Finalist”, marking a significant achievement among a diverse group of international contestants.
Bringing together women from across the globe, Ms Universe World International celebrates not only beauty but also leadership, resilience, and cultural representation. Throughout the multi-day event, participants take part in a demanding schedule of rehearsals, interviews, and runway presentations, all while advocating for causes close to their hearts. Speaking during the competition period, Olena Grytsynger offered a candid look at the realities behind the glamour, reflecting on her journey, motherhood, and what it truly means to represent Ukraine on an international platform.

Olena, how difficult is the competition schedule?
It’s much more intense than people imagine. Some days start at 3:30 a.m. because the first shootings begin very early. During the day, we have rehearsals, swimsuit and evening gown defiles, interviews and photoshoots almost without breaks.
From the outside, it looks glamorous, but in reality, it requires a lot of discipline and energy. Still, I try to enjoy every moment because this experience is truly special for me.
What remains behind the scenes of beauty competitions?
A lot of hard work and emotional pressure. You always need to look confident and focused, even when you are exhausted.
I think many people don’t realize that international pageants are not only about appearance. You represent your country, communicate with people from all over the world, and constantly work on yourself mentally, as well.
What does it mean for you to represent Ukraine internationally?
It’s a huge responsibility. I want people to see Ukrainian women as strong, educated, and resilient.
Today, many contestants ask me about Ukraine, about our people and how we continue living through difficult times. And every time I speak about Ukrainians, I feel proud.
For me, this journey is much bigger than a title or crown.
Has motherhood changed you?
Completely. After becoming a mother, I started seeing life differently. You become stronger because you understand that someone depends on you.
Children motivate me even during difficult periods. At the same time, motherhood made me softer and more empathetic toward other women.
Have there been moments when you doubted yourself?
Of course. Every woman experiences moments of uncertainty.
There were periods when I had to rebuild my life from zero and adapt to major changes. But those experiences taught me that real strength is continuing even when you feel scared.
What helps you stay confident?
Inner balance. Today, confidence for me is not about perfection—it’s about knowing who you are.
I also believe support is very important. Sometimes one sincere conversation can change your emotional state completely.
What would you like the world to understand about Ukrainian women?
That Ukrainian women are incredibly strong.
Yes, we care about beauty and femininity, but behind that, there is resilience, intelligence, and dignity. I think this inner strength is what truly makes Ukrainian women special.
What is your biggest dream today?
Peace for Ukraine.
And personally, to live a meaningful life, support my family, inspire people and stay true to myself.
