Written by Manuel Reuter (Manian), Yann Peifer (Yanou), Natalie Horler, Michael Koch, and Leon Cebeci, whilst it has been produced by Reuter, Peifer, and Horler, “ALIVE” centres on that moment of finally being able to breathe again after coming through a difficult period. While the track carries the high-energy, euphoric qualities listeners have come to associate with Cascada, there is an emotional core underneath its dancefloor-ready production, with the song transforming setbacks and scars into a renewed sense of strength.

Before the project became established under the Cascada name, Natalie Horler, Manuel Reuter, and Yann Peifer worked across a number of different aliases, with 3XM among the names associated with their early output.
3XM released its own “Alive” in 2003, a much longer, club-focused dance track that arrived with an Original Mix running for more than six minutes, alongside Clubmix and Static Project Remix versions. The earlier recording is firmly rooted in the early-2000s European dance sound, leaning towards the harder, more rave-driven side of the genre, and features only brief vocal passages from Natalie Horler rather than the full vocal-led song structure associated with modern Cascada.
Listening to the two recordings side by side reveals an even more intriguing link. The new Cascada “ALIVE” does not simply reproduce the 2003 track, but its central melodic idea can be heard within the updated production, with the musical figure that drives part of the original reworked into the drop of the new song. The melody has been altered and reshaped for the contemporary production, while Natalie Horler’s expanded vocal performance and newly written lyrics transform the idea into a complete song rather than the predominantly instrumental club track that came before it.
Although the 2026 release has not officially been described as a remake or re-recording of the 3XM track, the combination of its title, its musical connection to the earlier recording, and Manuel Reuter’s involvement in both versions makes the relationship particularly intriguing.
More than two decades after 3XM’s “Alive” first appeared, that musical idea has seemingly found a new life within Cascada, retaining a trace of its original rave energy while being transformed into something much more expansive. What began as a largely instrumental club track has now become a contemporary Cascada release built around Natalie Horler’s full vocal performance, with the involvement of Horler, Manian, and Yanou creating an unexpected bridge between the project’s earliest days and its present chapter.

While “ALIVE” draws on the qualities that have long been associated with Cascada, the intention is not to recreate a particular period from the project’s history. Instead, the latest material looks to carry those familiar foundations forward, allowing Cascada’s sound to continue evolving while retaining the melodies, emotion, and danceability that have kept listeners connected to the project for more than two decades.
That approach has become particularly important as Cascada’s audience has grown across generations. Longtime fans who discovered the project during its early years now sit alongside younger listeners encountering both its classic catalogue and newer releases for the first time. Rather than choosing between nostalgia and progression, Cascada are looking to create music that can connect with both sides of that audience without leaving either behind.

That history stretches back more than two decades, with Cascada becoming one of the defining dance-pop projects of their generation. Fronted by Natalie Horler, the project found international success with early singles including “Miracle” and “Everytime We Touch”, both of which made a significant impact across global markets. Their extensive catalogue has since included everything from “What Hurts The Most”, “Evacuate The Dancefloor”, and “Pyromania” to “Because the Night”, “Truly Madly Deeply”, “San Francisco”, “Dangerous”, “Last Christmas”, and “Summer Of Love”, showcasing the breadth of Cascada’s music across their career. Across those releases, the project established a recognisable combination of soaring vocals, infectious melodies, and dancefloor-ready production, qualities that remain firmly present in “ALIVE”.
Since then, Cascada have sold millions of records worldwide, accumulated billions of streams, and performed for audiences across Europe, North America, Asia, and beyond. Their music has also found a renewed audience through streaming platforms, social media, and the wider resurgence of Y2K nostalgia, introducing their catalogue to listeners who may not have experienced those releases when they first arrived.
