Rising progressive rock trio MJT are entering a defining moment in their career, with a series of high-profile live performances and new music signalling a major step forward in 2026.

The band, made up of brothers Matt Godfrey, David Godfrey, and Jordan Godfrey, are set to appear on the Summer of ’99 Cruise hosted by Creed aboard the Norwegian Joy this week. Momentum continues to build as MJT prepare for two significant shows in New York. On May 16, the trio perform at Groove in New York City, following their recent residency at The Bitter End. The performance is set to feature collaborations with notable musicians, including members of TAUK, bassist Jonathan Maron, and guitarist Brandon “Taz” Niederaurer. Fellow NYC act Strawberry Sun will also join the bill, highlighting the band’s strong ties to the local live music scene.

Adding to the anticipation, MJT will release their new single, “Past Present”, on the same day as the show, offering fans both a live and recorded experience of their evolving sound.

Following their New York City appearance, MJT will continue their run of shows on May 22 with a performance at The Warehouse in Amityville, where they’ll be joined by Mr. Rooster and Dystfunktone. The concert marks their first Long Island outing of 2026 after stepping back from the local scene, a move that has helped build renewed interest in their return. It also coincides with a notable milestone for the trio: the date marks their 40th show of the year, reflecting the intensity of their touring schedule. Tickets for most of their shows can be purchased through their official website, with some shows available for purchase from our affiliate partners, Vivid Seats and TicketNetwork.

MJT’s journey is as striking as their genre-blending sound, which fuses progressive rock, blues, jazz, and soul. The trio first gained national attention in 2009 after sneaking out of a homeless shelter to compete in—and ultimately win—Amateur Night at the historic Apollo Theater in Harlem. What started as a necessity during a challenging period has since grown into an independent career shaped by perseverance, skill, and a hands-on approach to their craft.

Over the years, MJT have shared stages with artists such as Slash alongside Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators, Living Colour, Alter Bridge, Sevendust, TAUK, and lespecial. They have also appeared at a range of festivals, including Pilgrimage Music Fest and Great South Bay Music Festival, as well as Blue Point Brewery’s Shakedown and Wimbash, steadily building a reputation as a compelling live act.

Alongside their touring schedule, the band have continued to expand their discography. Their album “Mr. NoOne, Pt 2”, released in September 2025, further showcased their musical range, with tracks such as “Daydreamer”, “Hopeless”, and “Here We Go” resonating with listeners. Their July 2025 single “Man in the Static” highlighted their evolving sound, while “Past Present” is set to continue that trajectory.

Looking ahead, MJT are also scheduled to perform at Friendly Gathering in Vermont this July, while drummer Jordan Godfrey will take to international stages as part of Onyx’s European festival run across Germany and Bosnia.
