Built around a bright, uplifting country sound, “Small Town” leans into themes of belonging, connection, and community. Anchored by the addictive lyrical melody, “I recommend a small town,” the song paints a picture of rural life where relationships run deep and support systems are always close by.
Written by Rebekah Snyder and produced by Dean Miller, the track also features mastering from Alex McCullough, mixing by David Buchanan, and vocal engineering by Nate Campisi. The release is being promoted to radio by Joe Kelly of CDX Records, with worldwide distribution handled through CDX Records and Sony Orchard.
Underpinning Snyder’s vocals is a rich blend of instrumentation, with Miles McPherson on drums, Eli Beaird on bass guitar, James Mitchell on electric guitar, Dane Bryant on piano, Eddy Dunlap on guitar and slide guitar, and Pat McGrath on acoustic guitar.
Storytelling lyrics transport the listener into the small-town setting that Rebekah Snyder brings to life, while her strong, country-leaning vocals feel both inviting and heartfelt. Harmonies with a backing vocalist add depth to the chorus, while the verses provide space for her vocal delivery to take centre stage. Layered vocals refresh the closing section of the track, reinforcing the refrain and giving the song a polished, memorable finish.
Rather than taking a purely nostalgic approach, the track is rooted in Snyder’s own lived experience. Raised in a small town in Western Pennsylvania, she later returned home after time away and went on to raise her three children there as a single mother. That return to her roots—and the stability she found within her hometown community—sits at the emotional centre of the song.
Reflecting on that period, Rebekah Snyder says, “I unexpectedly found myself a single mom raising three young children, and being able to bring them home to the small town where I grew up meant everything to me. This song is about the people, values, and community that helped me raise my children. I don’t know how I could have done it anywhere else.”
That sense of gratitude and resilience carries through into the lyrics, including lines such as, “I recommend raising kids in a small town… Open arms stay waiting for them in their small town,” reinforcing the track’s message of home, strength, and community support.
“Small Town” was written during late summer evenings in Pennsylvania before being recorded in Nashville at Beard Music Studios with producer Dean Miller. Known for his work with artists including Chris Stapleton, Kacey Musgraves, Dolly Parton, Alison Krauss, Vince Gill, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, and Kris Kristofferson, Miller helps bring a polished but classic country feel to the release.
“Working with Rebekah has been an adventure,” says Miller. “She is a prolific songwriter who works hard at her craft. ‘Small Town’ is a perfect, upbeat summer song full of great energy and classic images that cut right to the heart of any fan of classic heartland country music.”
Raised in rural Pennsylvania, Rebekah Snyder has developed her sound as an alt-country singer-songwriter rooted in personal storytelling and tradition. Alongside her work as a certified flight instructor, she draws heavily on her own life experiences, with her music often shaped by resilience and authenticity. A single mother of three and a domestic violence survivor, Snyder frequently centres her songwriting around underrepresented perspectives, influenced by her Appalachian upbringing and the legacy of strong women and veterans within her family.
“Small Town” is available to download and stream, right now, across all plstforms, via RSB Project distributed by CDX Records. Look out for her forthcoming debut studio album, titled “Ready to Ride!” which is expected to be released soon.
