Written and co-produced by Fred Presley, “One of These Days” also sees Eric M. Lichter take on multiple roles across the track, serving as producer and mixing engineer while contributing guitar, drums, backing vocals, and instrumentation. Further contributions come from Steve Wytas as mastering engineer and Guido Falivene as recording engineer. The single leans into themes of resilience and optimism, capturing the emotional weight of navigating difficult periods while holding onto the belief that brighter moments lie ahead. Presley does not shy away from vulnerability here, instead embracing it to deliver a song that feels both intimate and widely relatable.
Speaking about the track, Fred Presley explained, “This is a song written when things weren’t going so well in my life, but I really believed that in time it would all work out. It’s a song to bring a little optimism to a sometimes harsh world.”
That sense of hope threads throughout the single, positioning it as a gentle yet impactful reminder that perseverance can carry people through uncertainty. Rather than leaning on grand statements, Fred Presley allows the message to unfold naturally, grounded in sincerity and emotional clarity.
Musically, “One of These Days” reflects the breadth of Fred Presley’s influences, blending elements of folk, country, rock, bluegrass, and Americana. Driven by rhythmic guitar lines, the genre-blending track allows him to connect with his audience on an emotional level. His approach to songwriting prioritises storytelling and melody, drawing from a tradition rooted in authenticity. Inspirations spanning artists such as James Taylor, Eagles, Jason Isbell, and Sarah Jarosz can be felt in the track’s tone and structure. Catchy and engaging with a subtle mainstream country edge, Presley delivers a sound that feels both familiar and distinctly his own.
Fred Presley’s musical foundation stretches back to his upbringing in Alabama, where he grew up as one of ten children in a deeply musical household. With familial ties to The Cowsills—the 1960s pop group that later inspired The Partridge Family—music was embedded in his early life. Exposure to a wide range of sounds, from The Beatles and The Who to The Rolling Stones, Peter Frampton, and Hank Williams Sr., helped shape his expansive musical outlook from an early age.
After moving to rural Rhode Island, Presley experienced a period of personal hardship, particularly following his father’s serious car accident and subsequent recovery. These life events have continued to inform his songwriting, giving his music a grounded, lived-in quality that resonates across his catalogue.
Before launching his solo work, Fred Presley returned to previously written material through his Soul Whiskey project, bringing older songs back into focus after years on the shelf. With decades of songwriting behind him, his current releases feel shaped by both reflection and a renewed creative drive.
“One of These Days” marks a notable point in Fred Presley’s recent output, turning away from wider, outward-facing themes in favour of something more personal. Understated in its delivery but clear in its intent, the track highlights his ability to channel life’s more difficult moments into something honest and meaningful.
“One of These Days”, by Fred Presley, is available to download and stream, right now, across all platforms. This track arrives as a timely reminder that even in uncertain moments, hope can still take hold.
