Country artist Rebekah Snyder is embracing her storytelling roots with the release of her brand-new single, “Don’t Ever Date a Yankee,” featuring Adam Cunningham of The Voice US fame. The upbeat duet brings a fresh twist to classic country themes, blending humour, heart, and a touch of southern grit as Snyder begins a new era ahead of her upcoming album, “Ready to Ride!”, produced by Dean Miller in Nashville. This acts as the follow-up to Snyder’s 2024 single “America” and Cunningham’s feature on Alexandra Browne’s single “Broken Record”.

At its heart, “Don’t Ever Date a Yankee” isn’t just a song about North versus South—it’s about looking past where someone comes from to see who they really are. Wrapped in traditional country sounds with Appalachian storytelling and a playful back-and-forth between Rebekah Snyder and Adam Cunningham, the track transforms a regional cliché into a story of unity and understanding.

“It’s a country song. It tells a story,” says Snyder. “It’s a duet with two characters getting married against the odds. The song features raw Southern acoustic and tough electric guitar, along with the beckoning of southern rock pedal steel style, combined with sometimes distant drums, powerful and evocative of the distance traveled on dirt roads, which sets the stage for the song, and the power needed for overcoming. It’s a Romeo-Juliet or Hatfield-McCoy-themed romance of forbidden love, but with a happy ending.”

While the track embraces its Southern flair, its message runs deeper, using wit and charm to explore unity and understanding in a world that often feels divided. “In a playful way, the song highlights the foolishness of outdated prejudices held by prior generations,” Snyder explains. “It’s really about unity, coming together, finding common ground, and moving forward, despite our differences.”

A vibrant music visualizer created by Paul Motisi accompanies the release, adding visual flair to the track’s country soul and storytelling spirit. It brings the Southern charm to link with the alt-country vibes, while also adding the lyrics to engage the audience, making it more of a lyric video. Visuals of a car with its headlights on, whiskey in a glass, a car’s side mirror, a jukebox, the headstock of a guitar, and a deserted road add intensity, allowing focus on the song, its lyrics, and the message behind it.

After touching hearts with her earlier release “America”, Rebekah Snyder is proving once again that country music hits hardest when it’s honest. Growing up in rural Pennsylvania, she learned early the value of hard work, family, and storytelling — all of which echo through her songs. She’s not only a musician but also a certified flight instructor, a single mother of three, and a domestic violence survivor. Drawing on every chapter of her life, Snyder channels those experiences into music defined by authenticity, strength, and heart. That combination of grit and grace has made her one of the most sincere new voices in Americana and alt-country today.

As for the featured artist, Adam Cunningham, he is a Nashville-based country singer who earned national recognition during his run on Season 13 of The Voice, where his blind audition of The Allman Brothers’ “Midnight Rider” secured turns from coaches Blake Shelton and Jennifer Hudson, going on to join Shelton’s team where he reached the knockout stages only to be stolen by Adam Levine, in which he went on to place joint fifth.

Prior to The Voice, he worked as a session singer in Nashville and started out singing in church—a foundation that informed his smooth blend of country grit and soulful phrasing, going on to release a debut self-titled album in 2007. Recently, he’s been working with a variety of country singers, going on to feature on many of their single releases, including this one from Rebekah Snyder which only adds to the storytelling vibes of the song.
