The competition on RuPaul’s Drag Race UK Series 5 is heating up, and fans were eagerly awaiting the outcome of the latest episode. Viewers tuned in to witness the queens face off in a high-stakes comedy panel challenge. We finally got to say goodbye to the second eliminated queen after a lip-sync for the win from last week. Unfortunately, it was Miss Naomi Carter who was sent packing.
In this week’s episode, the remaining queens were tasked with a comedy challenge that required them to host playful and amusing panels reminiscent of “Loose Women”, focusing on topics such as Werk, Love, and Play. The pressure was on, as special guest – TV royalty who has played iconic lesbian characters (we miss Gentleman Jack!) and clearly a Drag Race superfan – Suranne Jones, joined RuPaul, Michelle Visage, and Alan Carr on the judging panel.
As the challenge unfolded, one group of queens knocked it out of the park – Tomara Thomas, Ginger Johnson, and Michael Marouli – with all three earning a RuPeter Badge; while one group just completely missed the mark.
Surprisingly, RuPaul decided that one queen from each of the Bottom Two groups would be up for elimination. Cara Melle and Miss Naomi Carter found themselves in the Bottom Two. They had to face off in a lip-sync battle, with the classic hit, “The Only Way Is Up” by Yazz. Ultimately, it was Miss Naomi Carter who had to sashay away, leaving an emotional and heartfelt farewell message.
Miss Naomi Carter expressed her gratitude, saying, “Shit like this doesn’t happen to a small-town girl like me. I just want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart… and arse.” She left the stage with a memorable sign-off, that is set to go down in history, telling her fellow contestants, “See you in a bit, dog shit!” It was a bittersweet moment back in the Werk Room as she said, “You know what? I’m so bloody proud to be a Ru Girl.”
With Miss Naomi Carter’s departure, the competition narrows down, and the remaining queens will continue to face new challenges. Next week promises a Rusical twist on panto performances, and former Torchwood star Cush Jumbo will be joining the judges’ table.
