The internationally acclaimed Japanese rock sensation, RADWIMPS, have just dropped an incredible announcement about their highly anticipated RADWIMPS WORLD TOUR 2024, aptly titled “The Way You Yawn, and the Outcry of Peace” – the band are gearing up to mesmerise Latin America this spring, revealing four exciting March dates.
Following the resounding success of their 2023 sold-out tours across North America, Europe, Australia, and Asia, RADWIMPS are set to conquer Latin America with a series of electrifying performances. The Latin American leg of the tour kicks off on March 15 in Mexico City at Pepsi Center WTC, taking fans on a musical journey through Monterrey, São Paulo, and concluding on March 24 at the prestigious Caupolican Theatre in Santiago.
RADWIMPS have partnered with Crunchyroll to power a special presale which started yesterday at 7 a.m. (PST). Fans eager to secure their tickets were able to follow Crunchyroll News for the exclusive presale code and additional information. General sale for the tour are available from Jan 12 at 7 a.m. (PST).
The visually stunning tour art was crafted by the renowned Japanese artist Keiichi Tanaami, known for his vibrant and wild creations exhibited in galleries worldwide. Frontman Yojiro, a fan of Tanaami’s work, approached the artist to create the tour’s captivating art, promising an unforgettable experience for concert-goers.
In an exciting collaboration, RADWIMPS joined forces with film music composer Kazuma Jinnouchi to produce the soundtrack and score for award-winning director Makoto Shinkai’s latest film, “Suzume”. The film, which opened in Japan on November 11, 2022, and rolled out international general screenings months later, including Canada, Ireland, the UK, and the US on April 14, 2023, has garnered immense success globally, grossing over $300M at the box office and receiving a Golden Globe nomination.
“Suzume” narrates the captivating journey of a young girl traversing Japanese ruins in the hope of closing doors to prevent a colossal supernatural worm from escaping and causing havoc by creating earthquakes. The film’s international rollout saw it opening to acclaim in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Macau, Indonesia, Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Korea, and Vietnam. Notably, it became the highest-grossing Japanese anime film in China, surpassing the record set by Shinkai’s previous masterpiece, “Your Name”.
RADWIMPS’ musical prowess extends beyond the stage and into the realms of film, with their compositions for “Your Name” and “Weathering with You”, as well as “Suzume” earning them recognition at the Japanese Academy Awards for the Music categories.
Formed in 2001, RADWIMPS have evolved into a powerhouse 4-piece band consisting of Yojiro Noda, Akira Kuwahara, Yusuke Takeda, and Satoshi Yamaguchi. with a diverse fan base worldwide. With nine studio albums to their name, their latest release, “FOREVER DAZE”, dropped in November 2021. The album, written and recorded during the pandemic, reflects on the challenges faced by the band and includes collaborations with a diverse group of artists, showcasing their experimental side.
