Montreal-based producer and composer Gizm0 continues to impress with his evocative sound and cinematic storytelling on his latest release, “Invisible Clockworks”. The three-track mini-album showcases Gizm0’s signature ability to blend melodic deep house with intricate, atmospheric soundscapes, creating an experience that feels both introspective and uplifting.
Featuring the tracks “Don’t Let Me Be Alone”, “Waves of Starlight”, and “Tear in Your Eye”, “Invisible Clockworks” is a masterclass in layered production. The title, as Gizm0 explains, refers to the unseen forces in nature—the Sun, Moon, and tides—that inspire a sense of wonder and awe. These natural rhythms are mirrored in the project’s intricate melodies and emotional resonance.
“It’s also a metaphor for the way the elements in my songs work together to capture a listener’s attention and create a connection,” Gizm0 shares.
Gizm0’s Mini-Album “Invisible Clockworks”:
The Three Tracks on “Invisible Clockworks”
The mini-album starts off with “Don’t Let Me Be Alone”, which is a progressive number that sees Gizm0 draw in beat sections at a time, expanding the melody, and giving the whole track an addictive melody that sticks in the listeners’ minds. One minute in and vocals kick in adding to the transcending quality of the track as it spins into a hypnotic trance track.
“Waves of Starlight” follows next bringing the sound into deeper house, with a constant rhythm mixed around a cosmic dreamlike ambience. It’s got a rave quality to it, yet more ethereal and flowy. It feels like it’s taken inspiration from popular ’90s trance music with an updated fresh feel to it.
The closing track is “Tear in Your Eye” which takes the cosmic quality from the previous track and spun it up slightly, giving it an upbeat feel and a delicate layer of emotional rhythm. The intricate production takes listeners on a journey of reflection, intense trepidation, and soul awakening. The vocalisation used switches the dynamic of the song, giving it this club-soul vibe that isn’t found in the previous two tracks and truly allows this one to take the spotlight, truly ending the mini-album in just the right way.
The Evolution of Gizm0
Gizm0’s journey into music began with experimentation and a deep passion for creativity. Learning to play multiple instruments and produce music, he honed his unique style taking inspiration from artists like Kidnap and Ben Böhmer. Since stepping into the world of original composition in 2018, Gizm0 has crafted a series of releases that explore emotional and thematic depth.
His 2020 EP “Sleepdiving” was a defining moment, inviting listeners into a dreamscape of escapism during a time of global uncertainty. Reflecting on that release, Gizm0 notes its cathartic nature:
That album was about escaping into a dreamscape during the isolation of the pandemic. “Invisible Clockworks”, on the other hand, is about finding hope and optimism in the rhythms of life.
A Visual and Auditory Experience
For fans of live music, Gizm0’s “Invisible Clockworks” has also been brought to life through a captivating performance filmed in the Port of Montreal. Set against a backdrop of industrial beauty and vibrant visuals, the performance amplifies the themes of the mini-album, offering a multisensory experience that highlights his creative vision.
As Gizm0 continues to refine his craft and push the boundaries of melodic deep house, “Invisible Clockworks” stands as a testament to his ability to create music that resonates deeply with listeners. It’s a reminder of the beauty in life’s unseen rhythms and the power of music to inspire connection and introspection.
“Invisible Clockworks”, by Gizm0, was originally released in September 2023 and is available to download and stream, right now, across all platforms.
