Jeffrey James, the Nashville-based singer-songwriter known for his soulful melodies and introspective lyrics, has returned with a captivating new single titled “Day by Day”, this week, marking his first release of 2024. He later dropped an engaging music video a couple of days later which showcases a day-to-day segmented visual where he sings this song across different days, wearing different outfits, bringing different energy levels—interpreting the song brilliantly. This release acts as the follow-up to his 2023 single “The Real Me”.
In this latest offering, James worked with John Davidson and Jacob Bryant who are best known as the frontman and lead guitarist of the indie-rock band The Brummies, to create a genre-blending anthem that seamlessly merges James’ soulful pop style with indie-vibing rhythms.
Reflecting on personal growth and the journey of love alongside his wife, Jeffrey James shares, “The song is based on my own experience of growing and learning about life and love alongside my wife. It hasn’t always been perfect or easy, but there is nothing better than knowing you have a partner who is by your side and ready to take on whatever comes next.”
Days after the single release, James dropped an awesome music video that may seem simple, in principle, but is highly conceptualised and it’s clear a lot of work went into it. Segmented across different days, we watch James perform this song in various scenes in his house, using a portrait filming mode, across a variety of days. Linking to the song, we can see that he sometimes has good days and not-so-good days and that he takes it in his stride and takes it day by day, It was filmed using an Apple iPhone 15 and was edited by Andy Tomlinson.
