Trixie Mattel has joined forces with Bonnie McKee for a bold new collaboration, delivering a spacey EDM reimagining of “Hella Good”—the iconic track originally released by No Doubt. Arriving as festival season approaches, the release not only revisits a defining pop classic but also reintroduces it through Trixie Mattel’s distinct dancefloor-driven lens, blending nostalgia with high-energy production and Bonnie McKee’s polished, pop-forward vocals. This acts as the follow-up to Trixie Mattel’s collaboration with VNSSA on the single “Ring My Bell”, a cover of the ’70s hit by Anita Ward, and Bonnie McKee’s feature on the RETROGRADE The Musical single, titled “LIBRA (Fairest of Them All)”.

Reimagined through a spacey EDM lens, the track sees Trixie Mattel transform the beloved new-wave hit into a festival-ready anthem, with Bonnie McKee’s polished vocals bringing a glossy, pop-forward edge to the production. Driven by infectious beats, the track provides a strong foundation for McKee to deliver a confident and expressive vocal performance, fully connecting with the song’s energy. Leaning into her current remix era, Mattel crafts a version that feels equally suited to club settings and her broader, sci-fi-inspired aesthetic. The result is a nostalgic yet forward-thinking rework, blending familiar hooks with euphoric production and further highlighting Mattel’s growing presence within the dance music space.
Sharing her excitement about the collaboration, Trixie Mattel said, “Bonnie McKee is my red-headed Barbie doll, and her vocals add so much gloss to this. This song is so iconic, and I’m happy to have made it gayer.”
The release arrives as Trixie Mattel gears up for a busy festival season, continuing her evolution as an EDM artist. In recent years, she has carved out a distinct space within the scene through her immersive Solid Pink Disco DJ tour, alongside inventive pop reworks—including her take on “Supermodel”, originally by RuPaul, featuring VINCINT.
Looking ahead, Trixie Mattel is preparing to launch Super Disco, a new conceptual live show set to bring a bold, sci-fi-inspired experience to festival stages. Positioned as her most ambitious production to date, the show will blend immersive visuals with an expansive DJ set, further pushing the scale and creativity of her live performances.
“New tracks, remixes, bootlegs… While I still want to provide that sense of escapism, I’m spinning a narrative where love and humanity prevail over greed and automation. It’s higher stakes than anything I’ve done on the festival circuit before,” Trixie Mattel explained.
Drawing inspiration from classic science fiction, Trixie Mattel added, “I’ve been consuming a lot of news, Star Trek, The Jetsons, reread Watchmen, and old sci-fi, so I knew I wanted a space-and-aliens theme. Musically, I’m leaning into what I love most: retro disco, funk, and funky house. Visually, it contrasts the ‘worst parts of America’—personified by a male villain obsessed with the military, robotics, and greed—against Trixie, who hails from a pink jungle planet that values love and connection.”
The Super Disco concept is set to be showcased across major international festivals, including Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, Lightning in a Bottle, Outside Lands, Osheaga, and Capitol Hill Block Party. Spanning multiple cities and audiences, the run highlights the growing demand for Trixie Mattel’s DJ sets while positioning Super Disco as a large-scale, cross-market production. By bringing the concept to some of the most recognised stages in the global festival circuit, the shows are expected to introduce her evolving sound and visual identity to wider audiences beyond her established fanbase.
Rising to international prominence following her win on RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 3, Trixie Mattel has steadily evolved into a multi-hyphenate force across music, live entertainment, and digital media. Beyond her work as a drag performer, she has built a strong presence within the dance and pop spaces through her Solid Pink Disco DJ sets, while also expanding into business with her widely recognised cosmetics brand and a range of successful multimedia ventures. Her ability to merge humour, aesthetic world-building, and musical experimentation has positioned her as a distinctive voice within contemporary pop culture.
Meanwhile, Bonnie McKee brings a wealth of pop pedigree to the collaboration, having established herself as both a solo artist and one of the industry’s most in-demand songwriters. She is widely recognised for co-writing major hits, including “Hold It Against Me” by Britney Spears, “How We Do (Party)” by Rita Ora, “I Don’t Care” by Cheryl, “C’mon” by Kesha, and “Dynamite” by Taio Cruz, showcasing her ability to craft infectious, chart-topping pop. Alongside her songwriting success, her own releases highlight a distinctive vocal style that blends precision with personality, making her a natural fit for high-energy, melodic productions. Her contribution to “Hella Good” adds a polished, radio-ready dynamic that complements Trixie Mattel’s production-led approach.
Bringing their respective strengths together, Trixie Mattel and Bonnie McKee deliver a reimagined take on “Hella Good” that bridges nostalgia with contemporary dance production. Arriving ahead of a packed festival schedule, the release captures a moment of creative momentum for Trixie Mattel, while highlighting the impact of a collaboration that blends distinctive artistry with mainstream pop sensibility.
