Kiesza has kicked off her next musical chapter with the release of “Good Morning America”, a dance-pop collaboration with KYLIE. With “Good Morning America”, Kiesza leans into more direct and confrontational territory, delivering a track that balances dance-pop production with socially conscious themes. The song focuses on empowerment and visibility, especially for women and gender-diverse voices, while promoting a sense of shared identity and strength. It further underlines her ability to merge mainstream appeal with more thought-provoking subject matter.
“Good Morning America” is written by Kiesa Rae Estrelle, Bradley Spence, Jake Richard Cunningham, Andrei L’vov-Basirov, Alexander Puodziukas, and Kylie Watt, produced by Jess Cake, Spence, and Puodziukas, mixed by Amir Jamm, mastered by Kristian Montano with assistants BeatsByFelix and Ruxandra Dedu, and recorded by Zackary Zanardo. The track leans into a darker, underground dance sound infused with queer-pop energy, built around a hypnotic beat and club-ready production that draws inspiration from ballroom culture and LGBTQIA+ spaces.
From the outset, KYLIE delivers a commanding, club-MC-like presence, setting the tone before Kiesza takes over with dynamic, high-energy vocals layered with intricate runs. The contrast between the two artists helps shape a track that feels both theatrical and rooted in club culture. Midway through, the structure shifts as KYLIE delivers a rhythmic monologue using talk-style vocals, exploring perceptions of women and challenging expectations placed upon them. Blending sung sections with this expressive spoken segment, the track builds toward a clear statement of defiance and self-definition.
Lyrically, “Good Morning America” continues the track’s bold, uncompromising energy, blending high-octane dance-pop with moments of spoken-word reflection. The song challenges societal expectations and gendered pressures, critiquing objectification and restrictive roles while celebrating autonomy, self-expression, and collective strength. A rhythmic, talk-style monologue midway adds a reflective layer, emphasising empowerment and refusal to conform, while the repeated chorus of “You better love me” acts as both a hypnotic hook and an assertive declaration of self-worth. Playful observations in the closing lines inject a late-night, club-ready humour, rounding out a track that is as thoughtful as it is infectious—perfectly bridging the dancefloor energy with its larger message of empowerment.
Discussing the inspiration behind the single, Kiesza explained: “For centuries, women have been weaponized against their own uprising. Isolated, divided, and conditioned to compete for the limited space carved out in a world we did not create. That same system has tried to erase, silence, and invalidate our trans sisters and gender-diverse community, fearing the power that exists when identity is self-defined.”
She continued by stating, “We fought for our rights, and we are still fighting to keep them, but things are shifting. We’re realizing we were never meant to conform to a system that excludes us. We don’t have to accept the reality we were handed. This song is about that awakening: about standing together, not just as women, but as a collective of voices who have been pushed to the margins and told who we’re allowed to be. And if there’s no place for us within the existing paradigm, then we’re making our own.”
KYLIE also shared her perspective on the collaboration, stating: “‘Good Morning America’ is a representation of two individuals bound by a cosmic legacy. It’s a combination of community, eternal love and justice. May the song be a light in these dark times and guide those who listen to a unified and just world.”
The release arrives as Kiesza prepares to expand her “Dancing and Crying” series with its third instalment, continuing her focus on personal growth and creative exploration. The series follows a period of reinvention for the artist, who first broke through internationally with her 2014 hit “Hideaway” and debut album “Sound of a Woman”. After navigating significant personal challenges, including a serious car accident that led to a temporary hiatus, Kiesza has returned with renewed focus on independent dance music, building on the expressive directions of “Dancing and Crying: Vol. 1″ and” Dancing and Crying: Vol. 2″ while pushing the genre forward with her signature energy and creativity.
Her recent success, highlighted by the 2024 US Dance Airplay chart-topping single “I Go Dance”, has reinforced Kiesza’s re-emergence as a powerful voice in dance music. With “Dancing and Crying: Volume 3”, she builds on the momentum of her previous volumes, continuing to craft tracks that combine infectious dance-pop energy with thoughtful lyricism and boundary-pushing production. The new release not only celebrates her return to form but also showcases her commitment to creating music that resonates on both the dancefloor and a personal, emotional level.
