British soul artists Conner Reeves and Joss Stone have joined forces for a powerful new collaboration, “Slow Lightning”, which was released on March 13, 2026, alongside an accompanying music video. The track sees the two musicians reunite vocally for the first time, marking a significant moment in a creative partnership that spans more than two decades. The release follows Conner Reeves’ sophomore album “TEN THOUSAND DAYS And The CHURCH Of The RESTORATION”, which is set to be reissued as a deluxe edition, and Joss Stone’s 2025 festive single “Christmas Baby Please Come Home”, her rendition of Darlene Love’s “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)”.

Co-written and co-produced by Conner Reeves and Andy Platts, with mixing by Pierre Duplan and Michael Scherchen, the latter of whom also handled mastering, “Slow Lightning” is a reimagined version of a track originally featured on Conner Reeves’ second album, “TEN THOUSAND DAYS And The CHURCH Of The RESTORATION”, released in late summer 2025. Now transformed into a duet, the song highlights the distinctive chemistry between Conner Reeves and Joss Stone, blending their signature vocal styles into a soulful and emotive performance.
Described as a tender and emotionally charged track, “Slow Lightning” explores themes of deep connection, pairing Conner Reeves’ textured, experience-rich vocals with Joss Stone’s smooth and expressive tone. The result is a modern soul duet that leans into classic influences while retaining a sense of freshness. Through the storm-inspired metaphors, the lyrics capture the powerful, electric pull of attraction, a concept that feels all the more vivid through the duo’s delivery. While the original version stood confidently as a solo performance, the introduction of Stone’s female perspective brings a renewed depth and contrast to the track, adding an additional emotional layer that enhances both the narrative and its overall impact.
Released alongside the single, the official music video takes a stripped-back approach, presenting a stage performance filmed at Muddy Road Studios in Taunton in a vertical format suited to mobile viewing. Both Conner Reeves and Joss Stone command attention while seated, relying on expressive vocal delivery and subtle stage presence to carry the visual. Reeves performs behind a keyboard, reinforcing his connection to both the instrument and the track, while Joss Stone leans into the emotion of the song through fluid arm movements, reflecting a deep connection to the lyrics while maintaining a relaxed, intimate performance style.
The collaboration carries added significance given their long-standing creative history. Conner Reeves and Joss Stone first worked together during the early stages of Stone’s career, contributing to her 2004 breakthrough sophomore album “Mind, Body & Soul”, co-writing tracks including “Jet Lag” and “Less Is More”, with Reeves also serving as co-producer. Their partnership continued on her 2009 project “Colour Me Free”, where they again collaborated as co-writers and co-producers on songs such as “4 & 20”, “Could Have Been You”, and “Free Me”, making “Slow Lightning” feel like a natural full-circle moment for both artists.

Speaking about the duet, Conner Reeves said: “This duet has been a long time coming considering how far back our writing and production collabs go. I’ve watched Joss grow from a shy 15-year-old to an International Soul Diva—and here we are performing side by side for the first time on the same record! There is no other female singer out there I’d rather share the mic with on this one.”
Joss Stone also reflected on their creative relationship, adding, “Conner is a beautiful person inside and out. I have learnt so much from him over the years—it’s a pleasure and a privilege to work with him on this great song.”

The release also serves as a preview of what’s to come, with the duet set to feature on the upcoming deluxe edition of Conner Reeves’ album, “More Than Ten Thousand Days and the Church of Restoration”, due for release on April 17, 2026. The expanded record will include “Slow Lightning” alongside three additional new tracks.

The album itself represents a major milestone in Conner Reeves’ career, arriving nearly 27 years after his debut album “Earthbound”, a release that earned a devoted following within the soul scene and featured his debut single “My Father’s Son”, which reached number 12 on the Official UK Singles Chart. In the years that followed, Conner Reeves stepped away from the spotlight, navigating a series of personal and professional challenges while continuing to write and create behind the scenes.
In 2020, he returned as one of five members of Dutch Interior, before re-emerging as a solo artist with new material in 2025. Across his career, Conner Reeves has collaborated and written with a range of established artists, including Tina Turner, Rod Stewart, Artful Dodger on the UK Top 10 single “Please Don’t Turn Me On”, Marti Pellow, The X Factor winner Matt Cardle, and East 17’s Brian Harvey. These experiences have helped shape a sound refined away from mainstream attention, ultimately informing the deeply personal and reflective nature of his later work.

Meanwhile, Joss Stone remains a consistent presence in the global soul landscape. Rising to prominence in the early 2000s, Joss Stone quickly established herself as one of the UK’s most distinctive voices, with her debut album “The Soul Sessions” reaching number four on the Official UK Albums Chart, while its follow-up, “Mind, Body & Soul”, topped the chart at number one. Alongside earning both Grammy and BRIT Award recognition, she has continued to evolve in the public eye, most recently winning The Masked Singer UK Series 2 as the character Sausage, further showcasing her versatility as a performer.
Now working on her ninth studio album, she continues to develop her artistry while maintaining a busy live schedule. Her 2026 appearances include a performance at the Cheltenham Jazz Festival on May 2, as well as a major London show in August, where she is set to join Lenny Kravitz as a special guest.
With “Slow Lightning”, Conner Reeves and Joss Stone deliver a collaboration that not only reflects their shared history but also reinforces their place within the British soul landscape. Through its emotive songwriting, layered vocal interplay, and stripped-back visual presentation, the track leans into a sense of timelessness while allowing both artists’ strengths to shine. The result is a duet that feels both deeply personal and artistically resonant, capturing the essence of two musicians whose creative connection has come full circle.
“Slow Lightning”, by Conner Reeves and Joss Stone, is available to download and stream, right now, across all platforms, via Absolute and Still Waters Recordings. Look out for the forthcoming deluxe version of Conner Reeves’ 2025 album, titled “More Than Ten Thousand Days and the Church of Restoration”, set to be released on April 27, 2026.
