Emerging experimental pop artist CASANDRA continues to build momentum with the release of her latest single, “SOLUTION”, the newest preview of her forthcoming EP “ISLA TRANQUILITA”, set to arrive on May 15. Building on the momentum of “PERMANENT MISTAKE” and “EXPLICIT,” CASANDRA pushes her evolving sound further with “SOLUTION”, adding new depth to the project’s overall direction. The track blends airy, rhythm-led production with a more introspective edge, allowing her to explore themes of identity, belonging, and self-discovery in a way that feels both intimate and expansive. The result is a layered listening experience that draws you in while revealing something more personal with each pass.
Co-written and co-produced by Jaye Locke and Casandra Marin, “SOLUTION” leans into an addictive pop-driven sound, with CASANDRA delivering both vocally and emotionally. Groovy and infectious, the track gradually grows on the listener, layering rhythmic pop textures with an alternative edge and subtle pop-rock influences, particularly through its use of guitar chords and punchy drum patterns. Around the two-thirds mark, the production shifts into a slowed, almost suspended moment, stripping things back to spotlight her vocals as the arrangement softens into an acoustic-leaning close. Lyrically, this rising female singer-songwriter reflects on recognising a relationship for what it truly was, confronting betrayal while repeating the phrase “no lover solution like that” as a statement of clarity and resolve.
Opening up about the inspiration behind the track, CASANDRA shares, “My birth was an accident, and the tension that came from that was something I always felt growing up. That theme has followed me throughout my life, extending itself and spawning, sometimes cruelly, in my adult life. With ‘SOLUTION’, I embrace my defiant existence and celebrate creating a home within myself—a place where I belong, where I’m wanted, and where I’m allowed to be everything that I am without restraint. ‘SOLUTION’ dances in the breeze, free and truly alive.”
The forthcoming EP “ISLA TRANQUILITA” carries a deeply personal meaning for CASANDRA, taking its name from the Spanish phrase, which translates in English to “little island of peace”. The project draws inspiration from her late great aunt Teresa, a central figure in her upbringing in Miami, who offered a sense of calm during overwhelming moments. Her gentle reassurance of “tranquilita” has since become a lasting influence, shaping the EP’s emotional core as something reflective, grounding, and quietly comforting.
Taking shape during a time of personal difficulty, “ISLA TRANQUILITA” became more than just a creative project for CASANDRA, evolving into something far more restorative. Collaborating with Jaye Locke provided a sense of stability in the studio, giving her the freedom to explore ideas at her own pace. What emerged is a collection of songs that not only honours a deeply personal connection but also offers a sense of calm and emotional release.
Originally from Miami and now based in Los Angeles, CASANDRA has developed a sound that moves fluidly between alt-pop, R&B, and electronic influences, resulting in music that often feels cinematic in scope while still deeply personal. She writes in both English and Spanish, weaving elements of her Cuban heritage into songs that balance emotional intimacy with a wider, more expansive feel. Much of her creative identity also stems from her early life experience being homeschooled, which encouraged a strong inner focus that continues to inform the way she writes and produces music today.
Just last year, CASANDRA introduced listeners to her multifaceted creative identity with her self-titled mixtape, a project that showcased the breadth of her sound and storytelling.
