Electro-pop artist M the Myth has just dropped their highly anticipated single “Pin-up Boy”, a bold and hypnotic track that celebrates sexual liberation and self-expression and is their first official solo single since 2022. Released today, the single showcases M the Myth’s signature blend of electro-pop and EDM, enhanced by earthy, organic Indian percussion and moody undertones. This acts as the follow-up to their feature on Isaac Indigo’s single “Not Your Enemy”.
Co-written by Sara Bard and Sumitra Nanjundan alongside M the Myth who also produced it, “Pin-up Boy” isn’t just another electro-pop song. It serves as an anthem of empowerment, designed to challenge traditional gender norms and encourage listeners to embrace their true selves. M the Myth, who identifies as trans non-binary, has crafted the track with a sultry, mid-tempo rhythm that builds into an electrifying EDM drop, complete with metallic, double-time vocals that add a hypnotic quality to the song.
The track gives off brilliant haunting EDM-pop as M the Myth delivers their dark sultry vocals from the beginning. They go on to expand with addicting vocal runs and delivers exceptional range as they launch into the chorus. Catchy lyrics spin a web of empowerment that is then unleashed onto every listener, with M the Myth truly advocating not just for transgendered listeners, not just for the entire queer community, but for every single person, as we all need some self-belief in ourselves and who we are. The drop adds a dynamic electro twist to the undeniably unforgettable backing track, making a strong impact on every listener.
“When I wrote it, I imagined Sam Smith singing it—I wanted to create something that embodied my sexuality and sensuality,” says M the Myth. “This song is about sexual liberation, freedom of expression, and self-empowerment. It helps me believe in my own beauty and the beauty of my body. Too often, people hide or judge their desires. In this song, I’ve broken free from self-judgment and embraced my truth.”
The track’s thick bass, gritty vocal melodies, and reflective lyrics invite listeners to break free from societal expectations. “Even though I sing, ‘I’m a Pin-up Boy,’ I know I am so much more than any label, and we all are,” says M the Myth. “This song is an affirmation for anyone to break free from the toxic addiction to patriarchy. It’s about letting go, breaking gender boundaries, and flipping the script.”
With a history of accolades, including recognition from Billboard’s Queer Necessities playlist and Amazon Music’s Twitch platform, M the Myth has cemented their status as an artist to watch in the electro-pop scene. They have had an impressive career path to date, including holding a Master of Music in Music Production and a Master of Arts in Songwriting from Berklee College of Music, complemented by their training at the Los Angeles-based production school Icon Collective. They are also a co-founder of Blonde Records and Artist Management, advocating for more opportunities for female-identifying and LGBTQIA+ artists.
