All About “Wicked: One Wonderful Night (Live) – The Soundtrack”

Recorded at Los Angeles’ legendary Dolby Theatre, the release captures the energy and emotion of the televised spectacle, featuring a full 37-piece orchestra under the musical direction of Tony Award and two-time Grammy Award winner Stephen Oremus, who was also the executive music producer for Wicked and Wicked: For Good. The result is a cinematic listening experience that reimagines classic songs from Wicked with grandeur, warmth, and a modern flair.

Joining Erivo and Grande are Jeff Goldblum, Bowen Yang, Ethan Slater, and Marissa Bode, alongside a host of special guests. The album concludes with a deeply moving rendition of “For Good”, recorded live at the Gershwin Theatre and featuring original Broadway stars Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth. The inclusion of this track serves as a full-circle moment—the Gershwin Theatre has been home to Wicked since its 2003 debut, where Menzel and Chenoweth first originated the roles of Elphaba and Glinda. It’s a heartfelt tribute that beautifully bridges the musical’s Broadway beginnings with its new cinematic chapter.
