Brooklyn-based electro-pop duo Dancing In Tongues have just unveiled a stunning remix of their track “Crawling”, reworked by genre-defying artist OLAN. Released on May 2, 2025, this remix takes the original’s haunting introspection and reframes it with immersive breakbeat textures and a deep, UK garage-influenced vibe that’s tailor-made for late-night dancefloors and introspective headphone sessions alike. This acts as the follow-up to the QRTR remix of “Pieces Click” single by Dancing in Tongues, and OLAN’s second studio album which was released last year, titled “Floating Worlds”.

Originally written by David Nuss, Jacob Bergson, Lucas Herweg, and Sarah Martin-Nuss while it has been produced by Jacob Bergson and LLUCID, OLAN’s remix strips back the slow-burning intensity of “Crawling” and rebuilds it as a spacious, emotionally rich track driven by syncopated percussion, crisp vocals, skittering beats, and cinematic ambience. It’s a striking ethereal reinvention that retains the emotional depth of the original while giving it a new pulse—one that invites movement and reflection in equal measure.

That emotional core aligns seamlessly with Dancing In Tongues’ distinctive style. Known for their experimental edge, the Brooklyn-based duo, consisting of Sarah Martin-Nuss and David Nuss, thrive on contrast—merging fragility with boldness, and layering crystalline vocals over evolving, often unpredictable production. With sonic inspirations ranging from FKA Twigs and Charli XCX to Caroline Polachek and Björk to Sofi Tukker and Snakehips, their sound captures a haunting beauty that feels at once intimate and otherworldly. This made them a natural match for OLAN’s creative vision.

Equally unconventional and boundary-pushing, OLAN brings her own distinctive artistry to the remix. A multi-instrumentalist, singer, producer, and DJ, whose real name is Luzana Flores, she first gained attention through her work with Grammy-nominated DJ, Mat Zo, on his 2020 album “Illusion of Depth”, before going on to release acclaimed material on Anjunadeep and Ninja Tune. Her reputation has only grown, with praise from DJ Mag and Beatportal and live performances that blur the line between electronic and organic, often featuring vocals, guitars, and live production. As a queer woman of colour in a predominantly white, male-dominated space, OLAN’s presence is powerful—both musically and culturally—adding further depth to this transformative reworking of “Crawling”.

With this collaboration, both OLAN and Dancing In Tongues demonstrate the powerful potential of remix culture—not just as a creative tool, but as a dialogue between artistic visions. If “Crawling” was a whisper in the dark, OLAN’s version is the echo that transforms it into a haunting, danceable dream.

The OLAN remix of “Crawling”, by Dancing In Tongues, is available to download and stream, right now, across all platforms.
