The upcoming fourth series will feature seven episodes, including the festive special, and promises to deliver more of the charm and intrigue viewers have come to love. Sally Lindsay will return as the savvy antique dealer Jean White, who, along with her sidekick Dom Hayes, played by Steve Edge, continues to solve baffling crimes in the picturesque village. The new season will also delve into the budding romance between Jean and Dom, adding an extra layer of excitement to the storyline.
Familiar faces are set to return, including Sue Vincent (who is also credited as a co-writer) as the feisty mechanic Gloria Beaushaw, Robin Askwith and Sue Holderness as the eccentric couple Jeremy and Judith Lloyd James, and Alex Gaumond as the dedicated Chief of Police, André Caron. The ensemble cast will be rounded out by Tony Robinson and Paul Chuckle, who play Dom’s mischievous Uncle Patrick and Gloria’s quirky father, Trevor. Fans can also look forward to some surprise guest appearances, which are being kept under wraps for now.
Dermot Boyd will direct the new series, with Jake Rollins producing and Mike Benson and Andy Morgan serving as executive producers for Clapperboard, alongside Sally Lindsay and Caroline Roberts-Cherry for Saffron Cherry Productions.
Reflecting on the success of the series, Sally Lindsay expressed her delight, saying, “I think if you had told me five years ago when I came up with the idea of Madame Blanc that in the not too distant future, our show would be not only a hit in the United Kingdom but America, Australia, Canada (to name but a few), I would have been astounded. But, amazingly, it is! And our team could not be more thrilled to bring you a brand new season of sunshine, laughs and antiques. All the gang are back with some more fantastic surprise guests visiting St. Victoire and we can’t wait for you all to enjoy soon.”
Series three of The Madame Blanc Mysteries proved to be one of Channel 5’s most successful returning series, with an impressive average of 2.3 million viewers. Greg Barnett, Channel 5’s Commissioning Editor, shared his enthusiasm for the show’s return, stating, “The Madame Blanc Mysteries has won over the hearts of our audience, and we can’t wait to say ‘Bonjour’ to our Sainte Victoire favourites once again. The crime rates may be sky-high in this village, but we’re in great hands with the brilliant Jean White, and trusty sidekicks, to crack every case.”
Fans won’t have to wait long to rejoin Jean White and the rest of the Sainte Victoire crew. The Christmas special is set to premiere in 2024, with the fourth series continuing into 2025 on Channel 5 in the UK and Acorn TV for international audiences.
