Here it is! JoJo has just released her brand-new single, “Porcelain”, marking her first music drop of the year. Earlier in 2024, she also starred in Broadway’s Moulin Rouge while working on her memoir, “Over the Influence“. The memoir details her career’s ups and downs, including the struggles she faced after signing a contract at age 12, which left her unable to release new music despite submitting multiple albums—read more about the memoir by clicking here. This single follows her feature on British singer Mahlia’s track, “Cheat”.

Written by David J. Parks, David Williams II, Edwin Serrano, Harry Wayne Casey, Joanna Levesque (JoJo), Luke Campbell, Rick Finch, and Theron Feemster, whilst it has been produced by TheRon “Neff-U” Feemster, “Porcelain” marks her first solo release in three years, bringing her flawless vocals over R&B-pop vibes, flooding listeners’ speakers with hard-hitting emotion and strong, powerful conviction. JoJo is back making an impact in the music industry, once again, and we’re so here for it.
The track is a high-concept builder of a song, that sees her sample Luke and 2 Live Crew’s “I Wanna Rock”, slowly progressing into addicting rhythms and gorgeous melodies that only accentuate her iconic vocals. With grit, emotion, and power, JoJo doesn’t hold back, and we certainly aren’t surprised, especially after collecting her thoughts in an absolutely brilliant memoir; of course, the music releases that follow the book were bound to hit us right in the hearts, and even though we were ready for it, she impresses beyond all doubt and takes it a further level than we could ever have imagined.
Showcasing to the world how strong she is, not just by delving into the ups and downs of her past in “Over the Influence” memoir, but also in this incredible song, JoJo spreads the belief that you will get through whatever’s holding you back. Influencing and empowering us all, these heartfelt lyrics effortlessly touch the listener as she takes us on a journey of subtle runs and slight harmonies that truly reveal her artistry. JoJo knows what she’s doing when it comes to music, an expert in technique and technicality, there’s literally no more we can say about this, other than… Perfection!
In an exclusive interview with People, JoJo said: “I’d been looking at pictures of the Japanese art of kintsugi, which is when broken pottery is repaired with gold, silver, or platinum. It struck me how so many of us are walking around like human kintsugi, imperfect and put back together even more beautifully after being broken.”
She continued, “I firmly believe sometimes you have to breakdown to break through. I’ve been many different versions of myself, and I imagine that won’t change anytime soon. ‘Porcelain’ is a celebration of surrender and strength.”
A visualizer for the song was dropped alongside the single which sees behind-the-scenes clips of various photoshoots in an old home video recording filter. We watch JoJo posing, having fun, chatting with people on and off set, getting her make-up done, and having a say in which photos she liked best. There may well be some Easter eggs hidden in this visualizer including future single and album artwork, especially since we see a two-second clip of the photo chosen for this single cover artwork of “Porcelain”.
Proving she isn’t letting the injustices of the past ruin her future, JoJo continues to impress to no end and “Porcelain” is just the most perfect single release following her powerful memoir “Over the Influence“. We highly recommend you grab this book from Amazon, Waterstones, or Bookshop, play her new music in the background, and read every single page.
“Porcelain” is available to download and stream, right now, across all platforms, via Clover Music under exclusive licence to BMG Rights Management.
