Rising girl group 3Quency have officially introduced themselves to the music scene with the release of their debut single, “Top Down”, out now via RECORDS/Columbia Records. The track arrives with an equally bold music video and signals the beginning of what promises to be an exciting journey for the trio.
Formed after winning Netflix’s competition series Building the Band, which became a Top 10 hit in the US, Brianna Mazzola, Nori Moore, and Wennely Quezada quickly stood out for their chemistry, powerhouse vocals, and fresh approach to R&B. Their victory on the show paved the way for a record deal, and “Top Down” now serves as their first official statement as artists in their own right.

Produced by Tommy “TBHITS” Brown—whose impressive credits include Ariana Grande, BLACKPINK, and The Weeknd—alongside Leather Jackett, the song blends smooth R&B melodies with a confident, sultry edge. Co-written by the group with Serrin Joy Scrutchings and Alivia Blue, “Top Down” captures themes of empowerment, sensuality, and self-assurance.
Mixing modern contemporary pop with late ’90s early ’00s R&B girl group energy, 3Quency are set to storm the pop landscape as they refresh nostalgic R&B with this track. Vocally stunning, this track is everything that we’ve been missing in pop music at the moment. With their brilliant harmonies and awesome vocal runs, “Top Down” serves as an addictively unforgettable track that will bound to be on repeat for the next few weeks, if not all year. Lyrically seductive from start to finish, this is a track we can’t help but get behind!
“It began as a love song called ‘Lover Girl’, but it took a turn,” says Wennely Quezada. “It wasn’t giving ‘Lover Girl’ anymore. It had its own force, and we wrote it as we felt.”
Brianna Mazzola adds, “It taps into sensuality, sexy energy, and taking control as a woman. It sets the tone because it’s an introduction to us as original artists. We’re starting everything from the ground up. It sounds like what we want 3QUENCY to be. This is us.”
“We’re big on empowerment and women being confident in their own skin,” Nori Moore says. “This song is all about women tapping into their feminine side.”
The accompanying music video, directed by Ava Rikki, mirrors the song’s sleek and empowering vibe, pairing striking visuals with sharp choreography that puts the trio’s energy front and centre. All three look absolutely stunning, serving the looks and the glamour while embodying the sexiness of the song in a variety of scenes.
Connecting with the audience on a deeper level, the video truly allows them to shine and fully gives them the chance to show their full potential. This is one girl group to not only keep an eye on but one that is set to fill the void that the likes of Little Mix and Fifth Harmony left behind, while bringing R&B girl group nostalgia from the likes of TLC, Destiny’s Child, En Vogue, and Mis-Teeq.
Each member brings a unique background and personality to the group: Brianna Mazzola, the Philadelphia-born powerhouse who often acts as the group’s “mama bear”; Nori Moore, the charismatic Southern talent with a commanding vocal range; and Wennely Quezada, the Midwestern singer known for her distinctive vibrato and raspy tone. Drawing on the legacy of classic R&B girl groups, 3Quency reimagine the formula with a fresh perspective that speaks directly to today’s generation.
Having already gained attention from outlets including Vulture and Parade and racking up millions of streams on their cover performances during Building the Band, 3Quency now look set to make their mark on the industry with original material. “Top Down” is just the first step in what they promise will be a string of releases throughout 2025.
“Top Down” is available to download and stream, right now, across all platforms, via RECORDS Label/Columbia Records. With their winning combination of talent, chemistry, and unapologetic confidence, 3Quency are positioning themselves as one of the most exciting girl groups to watch.
