The jungle adventure ended for another renowned face, as the latest episode of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! 2023 saw Nick Pickard exit the show, marking the fourth eviction this season.

Ant and Dec, in their signature style, announced the departure of the long-standing Hollyoaks star on Wednesday night’s episode. Pickard found himself in the bottom two alongside This Morning’s Josie Gibson, before it was revealed that he received the least amount of votes and was the next celebrity to be leaving the camp.

Upon hearing the news, the actor appeared visibly content and bid his campmates an affectionate farewell, expressing how much he’d miss them.

During his exit interview, Pickard singled out Sam Thompson as his top pick to win the competition, crediting him as “the lifeblood of that camp,” deserving of the coveted title. There’s been a consensus that Thompson should become King of the Jungle from all of the eliminated campmates to date, and we can’t help but agree with them.

This departure follows the recent eliminations of Fred Sirieix, Nella Rose, and Frankie Dettori in consecutive episodes, adding to the fluctuating dynamics within the jungle. The latest of which, Sirieix, stirred up some controversies from the fans who had issues with the maître d’s behaviour.

Previously in the episode, Pickard, Marvin Humes, and Tony Bellew engaged in the day’s Bushtucker Trial, titled “Critter Mixer”. Bellew, the former boxing star, faced jungle-related questions while covered in slime, molasses, fish guts, and offal. As soon as he got the answer correct, Pickard and Humes were tasked with catching a star while strapped in a mixing tank similar to a cement mixer lorry, teeming with creepy crawlies.

Despite Bellew’s frustration with the aftermath of fish guts, the trio managed to secure six out of seven stars – with the only reason for missing star number six being that it stayed out of reach for the full minute in which they had to catch it, so technically not their fault.

As the evening descended upon the camp, a peculiar dinner awaited the contestants – a possum, marking their inaugural meal without the expertise of Sirieix. Initially met with scepticism regarding what its flavour would be like, Pickard assumed the helm in preparing the unconventional dish. Contrary to expectations, his efforts yielded a meal that surpassed the apprehensions, receiving commendation and favourable reviews from the entire group.

Meanwhile, while talking to Thompson, Big Brother winner Gibson shared her career insights during the episode, expressing her profound appreciation for her role as a presenter on This Morning. Reflecting on the misconceptions surrounding motherhood and career, she highlighted that her success came post-maternity.

She emphasised the fulfilment of her aspirations as a TV host while proclaiming to Thompson that he would make a great dad one day and how he and his partner, Zara McDermott, would know when the time was right – something Thompson agreed with and professed that McDermott was doing so well for herself, career-wise, that he wouldn’t want to take that away from her, or to at least take some months from her, suggesting how motherhood isn’t always easy alongside a successful career.
