A major collaboration between remix app Hook and music streaming giant SoundCloud has just dropped, ushering in a brand-new era for music fans, creators, and artists alike. The partnership kicks off with a high-profile launch: the Lil Wayne Tha Carter VI Remix Challenge, giving users the chance to remix tracks from the hip-hop icon’s latest project and win exclusive prizes.

Hook, known for making remixing accessible and legal for fans, announced the strategic integration with SoundCloud yesterday, signalling a bold step forward in reshaping how fans interact with music. The integration connects Hook’s intuitive remixing tools with SoundCloud’s artist-first ecosystem, allowing users to remix tracks and share them directly to SoundCloud, opening up new creative pathways for listeners and tastemakers.

Speaking about the partnership, Hook’s founder and CEO Gaurav Sharma said: “Fans aren’t just listening to or reacting to music anymore; they are helping to shape it. For many years now, SoundCloud has played a key role in helping to transform and catalyze music trends around the world. This partnership builds a bridge between creation and culture, enabling fans to go from ‘listener’ to ‘remixer’ to ‘music tastemaker’ in seconds. Nothing could mark this collaboration in a more appropriate way than this fun Lil Wayne remix challenge that we think fans are going to love.”

To celebrate the collaboration, the Lil Wayne Tha Carter VI Remix Challenge is now live across both platforms. Fans can head to Hook and choose from three standout tracks—“Hip-Hop” featuring BigXthaPlug and Jay Jones, “Sharks” featuring Jelly Roll and Big Sean, and “Banned from NO”—to remix with just a few taps. These edits, lasting up to 60 seconds, can then be shared directly to SoundCloud for a chance to win prizes like tour tickets and a signed Tha Carter VI vinyl.

SoundCloud listeners are also being directed to remix the featured tracks via the Artist Storefront on both web and mobile, linking directly to Hook’s app for a seamless creative experience. This marks a new moment in fan-driven music creation, bringing together streaming, social sharing, and artist collaboration in one place.

Since debuting in late 2023, Hook has allowed users to share their short-form remixes across social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram Reels. Now, thanks to its new integration with SoundCloud, the app extends its capabilities beyond social media and into the realms of music streaming and live DJing. This next step means DJs and remixers can explore fresh, fan-made edits within Hook, seamlessly upload them to their SoundCloud profiles, and incorporate them into live sets using popular DJ software like Serato, Algoriddim, Denon DJ, Numark and others, bridging digital creativity with real-time performance.

At its core, Hook uses ethically trained AI to empower users to reimagine songs, whether that’s through sped-up edits, slowed-down versions, genre shifts, or mashups. Every remix is rights-cleared and trackable, ensuring artists and rights holders benefit fairly while fans take a more active role in the music experience.

Since its debut, Hook has partnered with a growing list of music industry players and boasts access to over 1,200 artists, including the likes of BLOND:ISH, KSHMR, Hardwell, Soulja Boy, Swae Lee, Sadie Jean, and Jaden Smith. Songs featuring stars like The Weeknd, Justin Bieber, Charli XCX, Big Sean, and Ty Dolla $ign, are also part of the platform’s remixable catalogue.

Founded in 2007, SoundCloud has become one of the world’s most influential platforms for music discovery and independent artist development. With over 400 million tracks from more than 40 million creators, it has played a vital role in shaping the modern music landscape, often serving as the launchpad for emerging talent across genres. Known for championing artist-first tools and community-driven features, SoundCloud empowers musicians to build careers on their own terms while offering fans direct access to fresh sounds, underground scenes, and global trends.

Widely regarded as one of the most influential rappers of all time, Lil Wayne, born Dwayne Michael Carter Jr., rose to prominence in the late 1990s as part of the Hot Boys before launching a hugely successful solo career. Known for his inventive wordplay, distinctive voice, and cultural impact, Lil Wayne has released a string of critically acclaimed albums, including his iconic “Tha Carter” series, which helped shape the sound of modern hip-hop. With multiple Grammy Awards under his belt and a legacy that spans generations, he has remained a prolific figure in music, collaborating with some of the biggest names in the industry while continuously evolving his artistry.

This new collaboration between Hook and SoundCloud is poised to redefine the relationship between artist and audience—blurring the lines between creator and fan in a way that feels more inclusive, collaborative, and community-driven than ever before.
