Nerdcore hip-hop powerhouse Daddyphatsnaps has released his brand-new single, “SUPERMAN”, in collaboration with OmarCameUp, last Friday, coinciding with the buzz surrounding the new Superman: Legacy film. The track arrives at a major career milestone for independent artist Daddyphatsnaps, also known as DPS, as he celebrates surpassing 1 billion global streams across platforms. This acts as the follow-up to DPS’s collaboration with Cam Steady and Geno Five on the track “HATER (DIO BRANDO)”, which featured Zepelin Beats and Zyller; and OmarCameUp’s collaboration with Preshser P on the single “GALAXY IMPACT (GARP)”.

Known offstage as Leon Young, Daddyphatsnaps is widely regarded as a trailblazer within the nerdcore music scene. Fusing hip-hop with anime, gaming, and comic book storytelling, the Long Beach-based creative has carved out a lane of his own through cinematic production, raw lyricism, and a striking visual aesthetic. As for OmarCameUp, real name Shakir Omar Desuza, he hails from North Lauderdale, Florida, and he has continued to prove himself as a seasoned artist, producer, and rapper who has over 45 million streams to his name.
The new release continues Daddyphatsnaps’ reputation for consistency and fan connection. Co-written with OmarCameUp, who also produced the track, “SUPERMAN” sees DPS taking on mixing duties, maintaining the hands-on creative approach that’s defined much of his discography. DPS has long been releasing new singles every three weeks, each accompanied by cinematic visuals and exclusive merch drops, a formula that has proven highly successful.
Addicting hip-hop from the get-go, DPS doesn’t hold back as he plunges into Superman-inspired metaphorical lyrics that everyone can relate to. He touches upon themes of power, responsibility and public perception, blurring the lines between superhero imagery and personal reflections of fame and duty. His fast flow adds to the heroic superspeed ability that Clark Kent notoriously has, while the energetic, cinematic production beats bring intense drama that feels like it is worthy of a superhero soundtrack. He later impresses with the bridge going from the lightning-fast rap spitting to a heartfelt, slow-talking rap that is heavy with meaning and will resonate with any marginalised community.
A lyric video dropped alongside the single, featuring a blend of clips and imagery inspired by Superman, visually reinforcing the track’s theme. The opening credits note that it was edited by Reece, full name Reece Lett, although it’s unclear whether the credit applies to the video, the audio, or both. Fans looking to rep the release can also pick up official merch, including hoodies, women’s and men’s tees, and even a mug—all featuring the single artwork—available now via the DPS official merchandise store.
With over 560,000 YouTube subscribers and almost 500 million video views, as well as 337 million Spotify streams and 330,000 monthly Spotify listeners, DPS is thriving completely independently. He earns over $400,000 annually from streaming and digital sales, with no label or major distributor behind him. It’s a true DIY success story that has landed him coverage in Billboard, Forbes, and several top-tier entertainment outlets.

“Hip hop was built on telling stories, so I take the stories that we all love from pop culture, anime and gaming to tell my own. I’m proud to say I’ve built something real…” says DPS. “Now it’s time to level up.”
“SUPERMAN”, by Daddyphatsnaps and OmarCameUp, is available to download and stream, right now, across all platforms, via Rebel Creator Services.
