Tutafarel is the musical moniker of multidisciplinary artist Raphael Rosalen, who has been shaping a creative world that blends sound, storytelling, and visual identity. With “Monte Casanova” set for release on December 5, this new chapter continues to unfold through “PINEAPPLE DIESEL”, a track that offers an early glimpse into the atmosphere and emotional texture of the album. Rather than revealing everything at once, it hints at the late-night moods, subtle tensions, and after-hours energy that run through the wider project.
“‘PINEAPPLE DIESEL’ is that after-the-club track: flirty, fierce, smooth, but laid-back. It’s what you play with the windows down on the way to the afters, when the city lights blur and you’re just in it,” Rosalen shares. “The name came from a vape a guy left at my place once; it said ‘Pineapple Diesel’ on it. I saw it and just immediately thought: ‘song title’.”
Bringing a lo-fi vibe, Tutafarel’s addicting new single is hypnotic and sensual, something we totally have come to expect from him during this era. The groovy beat adds a tension-filled club-dance vibe, set down low, as his seductive vocals mesmerise us from the very first chorus. This is before getting us hot under the collar when he sings in Portuguese for the post-chorus, taking raunchy lyrics to the next level—if this is what it takes for him to start calling us his boyfriend, we are so there, all the way in! The ending adds brass instruments, finishing the track in style, making us wish we were the ones who had left that pineapple diesel-flavoured vape at his place.
Tutafarel’s ability to turn intimate details into fully formed creative ideas is a defining thread throughout the “Monte Casanova” universe. Small observations, fleeting emotions, and everyday encounters often crystallise into art within his work, laying the groundwork for the album’s mood and narrative direction. This instinctive way of building concepts shapes both the record’s sonic palette and the storytelling that ties the project together.
While the concept behind the album had been forming for some time, its direction sharpened dramatically after Raphael Rosalen was involved in a road accident in 2025, leaving him confined to bed during his recovery. Immersed in ’90s action films, classical Greek storytelling, and the mythology surrounding figures like Giacomo Casanova, he began sketching out the emotional and thematic architecture of the album. Musically, his inspirations draw from a wide-ranging spectrum of male-driven pop—from Michael Jackson to Brockhampton to Justin Bieber—combined with softer, contemporary influences such as PinkPantheress and Addison Rae. Remarkably, the entire LP was produced in GarageBand, bringing an unfiltered, instinctive intimacy to the final sound.
As Tutafarel explains, “There’s sex, drugs, and rock & roll, sure, but underneath it’s about accepting imperfection: yours, mine, everyone’s. We live in a culture obsessed with surface, so opening up the messy parts can feel wrong sometimes. This record says forget that. It’s okay to dance through it, stay home and cuddle to a black-and-white-movie, or just be. ‘Monte Casanova’ is a moment of escape—a big, cathartic sigh—but dressed in pop.”
“Monte Casanova” expands on these themes by exploring the contrasts between confidence and vulnerability. The album captures the deeply human spaces found in the chaos of nightlife, the softness of quiet hours, and all the shifting moods that sit between the two, offering listeners a rich emotional landscape that resonates long after the music ends.
The album also forms part of a wider multimedia universe that Raphael Rosalen has been developing under the Tutafarel name. Alongside the music, he is releasing a novel titled “Monte Casanova”, set in a near-future Los Angeles on the brink of collapse, where media spectacle and power define every interaction. Framed as a two-act queer tragedy, the story follows Monte, a fallen icon navigating intimacy, betrayal, and the politics of influence. Told through a chorus of journalists, influencers, and digital onlookers, the novel expands the emotional and narrative universe that the album inhabits, offering a sharp exploration of identity, desire, and the complexities of connection in a digital age.
The book was officially published on August 28, 2025, via Seventh Press, and is available to purchase in eBook format on Amazon Kindle and paperback format on Amazon and Waterstones.

Complementing the book, Tutafarel is also developing a serialised TikTok series that brings the “Monte Casanova” world to life for a younger, online audience. Through this format, the story’s queer themes and contemporary conflicts are reimagined in short, visually dynamic episodes, further connecting the music, narrative, and visual art into a cohesive, multi-layered project. Together, the album, novel, and series form a bold, cross-platform vision that highlights Raphael Rosalen’s multidisciplinary approach and commitment to storytelling across media.
