It’s been a minute or two since we’ve had new music from Relley C but, as always, it was worth the wait and her new single “This Love” is out now. This addicting R&B-induced track has highlights of pop, soul, and Afrobeats, fully capturing this singer-songwriter’s aesthetic and exciting us for what’s to come. This acts as the follow-up to last year’s single “Inside Out”.
Written by the artist, herself, whilst it has been produced by A.L.V Beats, “This Love” is a strong R&B track that’s dripping with emotional positivity that’s embellished throughout the production. Relley C delivers more than we’ve ever seen her before as she dives in deep both lyrically and vocally. In doing so, the rhythm and flow of the track wrap around her voice bracing the listener for flawless vocal runs and emotional R&B energy.
What Relley C does best is bring the elements and the nostalgia of ’00s R&B and implement them into modern R&B music while adding other current styles to the mix including pop and soul. She takes it a step further when it comes to this track, though, as there are definitely some Afrobeats rhythms added in, and dare we say, some hip-hop-inspired vibes. With heartfelt storytelling lyrics that delve into the emotion of love and the singer-songwriter’s personal feelings for someone she’s fallen for and is excited to share her love with, this track stands out as a modern R&B gem that we can’t get enough of.
Best known for placing 10th on the 13th series of The X Factor, having previously competed on the 10th series, Relley C has been making iconic waves in the British R&B scene for the last few years. Her accomplishments to date include receiving the Access to Music “Best Vocal Artist” award for outstanding personal development and self-management; as well as having been featured on BBC WM and BBC 1XTRA, on top of being a former I LUV LIVE winner.
She’s performed at the Birmingham Music Awards, G-A-Y, The Pride of Birmingham awards, The Royal Albert Hall with Lady Leshurr, and The Great Escape festival. She’s gone on to develop her own R&B sound, carving her own path in music and has recently launched an independent cover project that has seen her put iconic R&B twists on tracks by Keyshia Cole, Becky Hill, and Miguel, and we expect more is to come.
