Noah Kahan, the GRAMMY®-nominated, multi-platinum singer-songwriter, is making significant strides in mental health advocacy through his initiative, The Busyhead Project. In celebration of Mental Health Awareness Month, which is the month of May, Kahan announced a series of new initiatives and partnerships, last week, to promote mental well-being during his “We’ll All Be Here Forever Tour”, which began in the United States on May 24, 2024.

Kahan, known for his candid lyrics and heartfelt music—as well as his Number 1 single and album “Stick Season”, has long been an advocate for mental health. His latest efforts showcase his commitment to this cause, as he reveals a new partnership with Backline, a non-profit organisation dedicated to providing mental health and wellness resources to music industry professionals and their families. This collaboration will ensure that mental health care from licensed providers is available to Kahan’s entire band and crew throughout the tour.

May is mental health awareness month. While mental health challenges are a year round challenge for so many, it is undoubtedly a good thing that we shed extra light on the mental health crisis for the month of May. I sometimes struggle with reconciling my passion and efforts to be someone that advocates for mental health with how shitty I feel most of the time. I am not always capable of practicing what I preach. I try to live in two places, and hope that someday I can situate myself between them. Some days I hole myself in my room and binge eat or don’t eat and stare at my phone until there is nothing else but the light of the screen and how awful I feel. Somedays I play a show in a sold out arena and talk about how therapy saved my life. Both of these days might happen over the span of any week. I do not share this for sympathy or to be seen as vulnerable or brave. I share this because I want people to know, in this month especially, to remember it’s okay living in two places. It’s okay to be in a place of hurting, it’s okay to be depressed, anxious, bipolar, obsessive, or just plain exhausted. We must all remember to try and strive for the other place. The place of healing, forgiveness, awareness. In this place we open up to people about how we’re feeling, and we check in on how our friends are feeling too. In this other place we try and meditate, we try to heal ourselves with therapy or medication or a long walk through our neighborhoods. I hope that during this Mental Health Awareness Month, we all try our best to live in that other place.

During each tour stop, fans can engage with local mental health organisations at The Busyhead Project Action Village. This initiative offers visitors the opportunity to learn about these local organisations, leave positive messages on The Busyhead Project Community Wall, and participate in voter registration efforts through HeadCount.

Since its inception last year, The Busyhead Project has raised over $2 million to make mental healthcare more accessible. The project, named after Kahan’s 2019 debut album “Busyhead”, continues to partner with national and local organisations, to amplify mental health awareness and, to democratise resources.

The “We’ll All Be Here Forever Tour” is entirely sold out across the US, reflecting the overwhelming support for Kahan’s music and advocacy. The tour includes stops across the United States and will continue into Europe later this year. Highlights include performances at iconic venues like Madison Square Garden and the Hollywood Bowl.
