As he gears up to release new music, Alex Shade answered our questions for an exclusive interview. He has been putting his mark on the music industry over the past few years, and recently dropped an addicting new single, titled “SKY HIGH”.
As a rising star in the music world, Alex Shade took it upon himself to start building a brand, going on to launch his own record label and become an independent artist. With a legion of fans across social media, aptly known as “SHADE ARMY”, he has continually made an impact within the industry. Alex Shade’s Spotify numbers speak for themselves, with his track “Only One” going on to reach hundreds of thousands of streams on the platform, and he looks set to have another success with “SKY HIGH”, as it is currently raking in tens of thousands of streams.
With Alex Shade’s latest track, “SKY HIGH”, being the start of a brand new era for him, we’re totally hyped at watching his career go from strength to strength as he continues to release tracks full of emotional integrity and realness. In our interview, we discuss his music career to date, his upcoming projects, his fans, and how positivity is something he wants to spread more of.
Hi Alex, we hope all is well with you. What new plans have you got coming up? We’re pretty sure you have new music on its way.
Hi, first of all, thanks for having me, yes exactly new music is coming soon. I took the time to perfect my craft and to work on some new sounds, that’s a long and interesting process in the making. Each new project is always a challenge for me.
As for your latest release, “SKY HIGH”, which dropped in February, it is a fantastic blend of pop and hip-hop, and it has a very uplifting vibe. Can you tell us more about the inspiration behind this track?
Most of my songs are made of my own experience of life and situations, for “SKY HIGH” I wanted to express my way of life from a positive point of view, each line of this song has a specific signification, it’s really exciting when you tell a story through a song. On this one, I express how even in a hard time you can elevate yourself high by yourself that’s how I was inspired mostly about my situation at this precise time of my life.
In your music video for “SKY HIGH”, the visuals are captivating, and your style is on point. How involved were you in the creative direction of the video, and what were your favourite moments during the shoot?
Fashion is, for me, one of the most important things when it comes to expressing myself, especially in a music video, it shows the world your identity, your image, it’s a key. I like the details of every little thing I can bring in my outfit, for every scene I choose what comes into my mind, and I really take seriously these scenes when it comes to fashion.
My favorite moment on this set was when we filmed at the airport for the main chorus scene, when the sun came to the golden hour it was really exceptional on the render screen.
You’ve described yourself as a multi-talented artist, encompassing singing, rapping, songwriting, and producing. How do you balance and integrate these various talents to create your unique sound?
That’s an interesting question, I tend to use all my capacity when it comes to making a song, that’s a complete process, especially when it comes to mixing between rapping and singing. My next single will empower all of this on a whole new level, I can’t wait to release it!
Your album “Shade” released in 2021 showcased your expertise and bold personality. How has your musical journey evolved since the release of this album, and what can fans expect from your upcoming projects?
A lot honestly, I’m definitely not at the same level since I released “SHADE” in 2021! I learned a lot about myself, especially about my vision and my way of making music. When I’m making music I put all of myself into it, my vibration, my pain, my joy, all of me. It’s a more mature approach and authentic, I want to make authentic music specific to me.
“SKY HIGH” radiates positivity and a sense of being on cloud nine. How important is it for you to infuse positivity into your music, and what do you hope listeners take away from this song?
Music is a way to share all different emotions and it’s a great way to spread love and positivity, I want them to feel good, like on a cloud, to never give up on their dreams and on life, that’s what I want them to take away from this song.
As an artist with both a musical and business-oriented mindset, you’ve ventured into establishing your record label, “Shade Dynasty Records”. What motivated you to create your own label, and how do you envision it shaping the careers of independent artists?
It was for me obviously to launch Shade Dynasty Records for multiple reasons that I will explain. First I wanted to stay independent and bring my own vision through the music industry and to help and launch the careers of other talented artists, producers, and co. The Shade Dynasty is my life vision for the long term time, I have so many projects and ideas to make for this label, and enterprise I’m really proud of what I made through it.
You’ve gained recognition and opportunities in both the United States and Europe. How do you navigate the global music scene, and what differences have you observed in how your music is received in these regions?
It’s very different, my main audiences are in the United States, like my heart and my soul. The people are really different in these two countries, but I wanted to spread my music all over the world not just between these two countries, I love to travel and to meet fans no matter where they are from. I’m very loyal to them and grateful for what they give me every day.
Your Instagram following has grown significantly, with over 28.8k followers. How do you engage with your fans on social media, and what role do they play in your artistic journey?
I engage with them every day through my Instagram story, DMs and especially with my new Instagram channel and project “SHADE LIFE“ where I share my personal journey. They give me a lot of positive vibes and good energy, it means a lot to me.
Collaborations and endorsements seem to be an integral part of your career. Can you share any exciting collaborations or projects you’re currently working on or planning for the near future?
I’m working on some future new features with talented artists and producers, but I can’t tell you more about it, maybe in the next interview!
Sounds like we’re going to have to schedule another interview in the future then. “SKY HIGH” has a catchy chorus that sticks with the listener. Could you take us behind the songwriting process and how you create such memorable hooks?
It’s always the same process, everything comes to my mind naturally, it can start just with a word and I make a full song through it, I have a very complex songwriting process but when the inspiration is here I seize the occasion and I write, I write, practice every day that the key.
You’ve been described as a rising voice in the music industry. What message or advice do you have for other aspiring artists who are working to establish themselves in the industry?
Stay true to yourself, give everything you can do, and never give up on your dreams until you make it, it’s a cruel world, especially in this industry, so keep it up and work hard for it, and you will succeed that’s my personal advice.
