In the brilliant latest episode of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! 2023, actress Danielle Harold bid farewell to the jungle as the fifth contestant to be eliminated, leaving just five celebrities camping it out in the Australian jungle as the finale inches closer.
This anticipated moment unfolded on the show’s latest episode, aired on Thursday (7 December), when the ex-EastEnders star found herself in the bottom two alongside former professional boxer Tony Bellew, as announced by the ever-energetic hosts Ant and Dec.
Harold, known for her vibrant presence, shared heartfelt sentiments about her time in the jungle. Reflecting on her bond with podcaster and Made in Chelsea star, Sam Thompson, she affectionately referred to him as her “little brother”, highlighting the camaraderie they shared. Expressing her gratitude for the experience, she praised every single contestant, including the controversial inclusion of GB News host and ex-politician, Nigel Farage, stating, “Even Mr. Farage.”
Following in the footsteps of her previously evicted campmates, Frankie Dettori, Nella Rose, Fred Sirieix, and Nick Pickard, she expressed how she wants Thompson to go on and win the crown. We believe it’s one of the first times that the evicted campmates have all agreed on a winner.
With Harold’s departure, the remaining contestants shaping the drama-filled reality show include Bellew, Thompson, Farage, This Morning’s Josie Gibson, and JLS star Marvin Humes. Adding to the captivating episode, viewers were treated to hilarious scenes when Farage and Thompson accidentally burnt the rice, marking one of the series’ comedic highlights.
We also saw Thompson take on the bush tucker trial, titled “No Time to Cry, Cry Harder”, which was the same trial that Nella Rose took on over two weeks ago, in which she only got three stars and screamed “I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!” after feeling claustrophobic, seeing the spiders and getting electrocuted.
Thompson took on the role of Agent Murph from the story that he and Humes made up back in camp. He also got to use the “super high-tech” watch – which was really just a magnet stuck to a watch – that he would use to free stars from their plastic wall boxes. He had to manoeuvre past lasers, through a room where he got electrocuted, swim with crocodiles, and search for a star in an office with snakes.
He ended the trial with a forward roll as he exited the hatch. He managed to get all six stars, which led to him and Farage cooking rubber-lipped fish for dinner. Fortunately, Farage knows how to cook fish, so the dinner was a success – thankfully, especially after the burnt rice situation earlier in the day.
Additionally, the episode showcased the contestants’ tenacity in a challenge to earn a hearty breakfast for the following day. Tasked with answering general knowledge questions in a call centre setup, the celebrities encountered distractions in the form of critters dropped on them while answering. Despite the challenges, they managed to secure a delightful breakfast when they reached a total of 12 correct answers.
As the anticipation builds toward the finale airing on Sunday (10 December), the evictions are anticipated to continue, though unexpected reprieves might alter the dynamic. The first two exits were due to medical reasons from Grace Dent and Jamie Lynn Spears, which may have shifted the usual finale dynamic, possibly leaving just two contestants vying for the crown.
