Chicago-based artist Cherie Lily has returned with one of her boldest and most personal releases to date. Her brand-new single and music video, “SHADE SERVED”, is officially out now, bringing a fierce mix of empowerment, theatrical visuals, and Halloween-ready energy. This acts as the follow-up to her collaboration with Odessa Da Gawd and James Patterson on the single “WHAT ABOUT HOUSE?” where she released two remixes, including an extended version with DJ Gomi.

Known for her genre-defying sound and commanding stage presence, Cherie Lily channels raw emotion into her latest track, transforming experiences of injustice into something powerful and unflinching. Lily not only wrote the track but also co-produced it with Bobby Archibold, crafting a captivating backdrop with pulsating beats, an unforgettable rhythm, assured vocals, and heartfelt strength. Haunting production runs throughout as Lily refuses to hold back in the lyrics, confronting themes of karma, greed, and injustice while warning that those who abuse power and wealth will ultimately face consequences.

Destined to be a staple on Halloween playlists, the spooky nature of this release and its cross-blend of hip-house gives it a strikingly unique style. Eerie undertones and theatrical energy run through every beat, creating the perfect soundtrack for late-night parties and dark dancefloors. Cherie Lily infuses the song with a sense of playful menace, embracing the spirit of spooky season while delivering a poignant release of energy and empowerment.

“‘SHADE SERVED’ was inspired by the experience of confronting true injustice,” Cherie Lily explains. “It’s darker than my previous releases because it reflects the depth of those emotions, but it also represents transformation, turning anger and pain into something powerful and creative.”
The release also marks a milestone in Cherie Lily’s career, as she took full creative control of the accompanying music video. With no outside team involved, she handled every stage of the process — from writing and styling to filming, editing, and producing — showcasing her determination to bring her vision to life exactly as she imagined it. This DIY approach adds an extra layer of authenticity, allowing the visuals to perfectly match the dark, high-energy mood of the song.

The end result is a performance-driven visual that mixes sensuality with spookiness to mirror the track’s intensity. Cherie Lily appears in a series of lingerie looks, her striking makeup amplified in moments such as when she appears with vivid green contact lenses.. The video also weaves in atmospheric cutaway scenes: a nighttime funfair, a group running with flashlights through the dark, and later, eerie character transformations.
Midway through, the mood shifts into full horror with Lily donning a wolf mask and dark lingerie, while a menacing clown-like figure armed with a knife and scythe makes its terrifying debut. The climax brings together multiple versions of Lily side by side, cackling with an evil laugh — a fittingly chilling finale for a Halloween-ready release.
“Halloween has always been one of my favorite holidays because it’s all about breaking free, expressing yourself, and embracing creativity,” says Cherie Lily. “‘SHADE SERVED’ is a cathartic transformation from the scared child I once was to the empowered woman I am today—blending spooky season vibes with high-energy house music.”
Cherie Lily’s career spans two decades, first making her mark in New York City during the early ’00s. She fronted punk bands Spank and FlüRT, while also carving out a name for herself in the fitness world. Blending both passions, she went on to pioneer HOUSEROBICS, a unique mix of house music and high-energy aerobics. From her years touring and collaborating with rocker Andrew W.K., to whom she was married for 15 years, to her current life in Chicago raising two children, Cherie Lily has never stopped evolving, using each new project to expand her creative vision and redefine her sound.

“SHADE SERVED” is more than just a new single, it’s a statement of resilience, karmic justice, and artistic independence. Designed to electrify dancefloors and playlists alike, Cherie Lily hopes it resonates with listeners beyond just the Halloween season. “I want listeners to feel validated in their anger, but also empowered to release it and trust that karma always restores balance,” Lily says. “Their SHADE will be SERVED.”
“SHADE SERVED” is available to download and stream, right now, across all platforms, via Chervana Music. It contains two tracks, one is the standard version and track two is the radio edit, giving you the chance to listen to it twice.
