Winnipeg rockers D2UR are back with a fiery new single that marks an exciting sonic shift for the band. Titled “Fire”, the track burns with ambition and dreamy psychedelia, blending hypnotic grooves with electrifying guitar work and a strong message of self-belief. This acts as the follow-up to the 2023 single release, titled “Wasted Time”.

The husband-and-wife duo, Mike and Diane Isbister, found inspiration for the single in an unexpected place: a request from a friend who was seeking music for a podcast. That initial idea quickly morphed into something much bigger. While developing the theme, they created multiple variations before landing on a version that sparked real creative momentum.
“Diane heard the initial idea and immediately connected with it,” says guitarist and co-writer Mike Isbister. “She loved it so much that she wanted to complete the song and write lyrics for it — and that’s when ‘Fire’ really came to life.”

With Diane Isbister stepping in to give the track its vocal identity, this track evolved into a bold, boundary-pushing anthem. The band returned to the studio, adding a chorus and soaring guitar solo, infusing the track with a mild psychedelic flair and experimental synth textures that elevate its intensity. Addictive throughout, the track pulses with anthemic rock confidence and a message of self-belief, seamlessly aligning with the empowering lyrics. Diane Isbister’s powerful vocal delivery brings that message to the forefront, instilling a sense of determination and drive into every listener.
Lyrically, “Fire” channels inner drive and determination, urging listeners to chase their biggest dreams and never hold back. “It’s about reaching for the stars,” says vocalist Diane Isbister. “You won’t get to the top without trying. You have to light that fire within yourself and aim high.”
With its mix of unorthodox guitar tones, rhythmic depth, and raw energy, this new single release stands out as one of D2UR’s most dynamic releases to date, a glowing testament to their constant evolution as artists.
Formed in Winnipeg, D2UR (pronounced “Detour”) is led by Diane and Mike Isbister, whose musical journey together spans decades. Alongside bandmates John Colburn (bass), David Sikorski-Thorn (guitar), and Stephen Broadhurst (drums), they channel influences ranging from AC/DC and Ted Nugent to Heart and The Pretty Reckless. Their style shifts from gritty, high-octane rock to emotional, blues-tinged storytelling, a duality that’s helped them carve out their own space in Canada’s rock landscape.

“Fire” follows on from standout tracks like “Wasted Time”, “Right Now”, “Little Sunshine”, and “Slippin’ Away”, and signals a bold new chapter for this rock band. The track is available to download and stream, across all platforms, right now.
