The latest episode of Canada’s Drag Race Season 4 served up a sensational girl group challenge, setting the stage for high drama and fierce performances. Last week, the vivacious Kitten Kaboodle soared to the top, securing her place after an electrifying QV-She Live TV challenge. However, the episode bid adieu to Montreal’s Sisi Superstar in a lip sync showdown, setting the stage for an intense new episode.
This week, the werk room buzzed with energy as the queens absorbed Sisi’s farewell message. Denim received an encouraging nod from Sisi to seize the crown, igniting determination in Luna Dubois to prove herself in the upcoming challenges after winning the lip-sync for your life. The power of the “golden beaver” lingered, with Kitten hinting at potential alliances and strategic decisions among the queens.
The episode started with a mini-challenge, hosted by the gorgeous Traci Melchor – who was looking beyond stunning – testing the queens’ improvisational skills in a rapid-fire press-junket quick drag scenario where they were interviewed about starring in a film – a title of which was only revealed to them as soon as they sat down. Melinda Verga shone, claiming victory and establishing herself as a force to reckon with in future acting challenges.
The main event, however, revolved around the iconic girl group challenge. Captains Melinda and Luna led their teams, navigating through recording tracks mentored by pop sensation Rêve – who is a total icon and her tracks are absolute stormers! The journey was not devoid of challenges; from lyric-writing nerves to choreography struggles, the queens braved it all.
The following day arrived, leading the girl groups to perform with all their might, showcasing The Vixens and The Lovebugs in their headline act at the Oh-She-Gaggin music festival. Once again, Traci showcased how she’s the lewk of the season, while Brad Goreski looked both gorgeous and sexy in his mesh vest paired with a bright green blazer and matching trousers, then Rêve blew us away in an iconic plum-coloured dress, and Brooke Lynn Hytes gothed it up in a surprising black number. While both groups brought their A-game, critiques highlighted moments of brilliance and areas for improvement.
In the nail-biting judgment, Aurora Matrix emerged victorious, claiming the coveted golden beaver. However, the bottom three – The Girlfriend Experience, Kitten Kaboodle, and Kiki Coe – faced the daunting prospect of a lip sync battle. After pleading their cases in Untucked, with some tears and possible alliance promises, it was Kiki Coe who was given the lifeline with the golden beaver from Aurora. Despite a valiant performance of the addicting track “Tongue”, by Rêve, it was The Girlfriend Experience who was sent home, and Kitten earned a shantay, making The Girlfriend Experience the second queen eliminated from Season 4.
Looking ahead, tensions simmer as the queens prepare for a sewing challenge and the runway ramps up the stakes. The stage is set for another thrilling episode of Canada’s Drag Race Season 4 – and we cannot wait to see the looks that these three judges will strut down the runway in, next!
