Published by Aethon Books, “Tales of a Far Rider” introduces readers to the world of Merelein, a land shaped by magic, danger, and progression. At the centre of the story is Culann Hawkfall, a Far Rider and one of the rare Shroudweavers—individuals able to access a mysterious magical shroud that grants powerful abilities used to survive against monsters and other threats. Known as “Cloaks” by the people of the world, Shroudweavers play a crucial role in navigating Merelein’s ever-present dangers.

Culann Hawkfall is portrayed as a wandering adventurer travelling across the continent of Atair, seeking rare spirit-infused artefacts while attempting to outrun a past he would rather leave behind. His journey is driven by Advancement—a core concept within the LitRPG genre—with the hope that growing stronger through experience and ability will eventually bring him peace. Along the way, his role as a Far Rider sees him aiding communities across the world, blending personal progression with acts of service and atonement.

“Tales of a Far Rider” Description:

Fight. Survive. Advance.

The world of Merelein is surrounded by a mysterious shroud of magical energy. A select few called Shroudweavers gain access to the shroud, in the form of powerful abilities used to fight monsters and other dangers.

Culann Hawkfall is one of them — a Shroudweaver wandering the continent looking for adventure and rare spirit-infused artifacts while escaping a past he wants nothing to do with.

Join Culann on his adventures, riding far and helping the people of the world wherever he goes. For it is only through the use of his rare abilities that can he advance, and he hopes that progression may help him find the peace he lacks.

Positioned as an action-packed LitRPG adventure, “Tales of a Far Rider” continues Troy Osgood’s focus on intelligent protagonists who make strategic use of their abilities and the systems around them. The novel expands on themes familiar to fans of the genre, including survival, progression, and the balance between power and responsibility, while establishing a new setting and cast separate from the author’s previous series.

The book spans 336 pages and is available in audiobook format on Apple Books and Amazon Audible, eBook format on Amazon Kindle, and paperback format on Amazon. It serves as the first volume of three in the Tales of a Far Rider series, with “Tales of a Far Rider 2” already scheduled for release on March 25, 2026.
