Kesha Releases “DELUSIONAL”
An Epic Second Independent Single From Kesha
“DELUSIONAL” blends Kesha’s signature boldness with a cutting-edge soundscape crafted by Zhone, whose work on Troye Sivan’s “Rush” earned him a GRAMMY® nomination. This latest offering builds on the momentum of Kesha’s remarkable year, solidifying her as one of Spotify’s Top 100 artists with nearly 40 million monthly listeners.
Released as a three-track single, Kesha serves two versions of “DELUSIONAL”—a radio edit and a “Main Version”—alongside the previous single “JOYRIDE”. Guitar strings open the new track before electronic beats add to the flow, drums then kick in alongside Kesha’s vocals. Taking on a more pop-rock sound, Kesha effortlessly impresses vocally and lyrically, showcasing emotional feelings as she hits out at an ex who held her back, who didn’t know how good he had it, and thought he could find better—but reality check, he can’t.
Self-empowerment and self-worth embody the true spirit of Kesha, and she inspires us to embrace these qualities by spreading her message of self-love and confidence, reminding us that all those exes in our past are the ones missing out. Her positivity is magnetic, and this power-pop ballad of a track is one that hits us all right in the soul! Vocal runs off the chart, Kesha makes us reminisce on her awesome early single “Your Love Is My Drug” and 2019 single “My Own Dance”, due to the guitar-pop melody, and her continued showcase of versatility.
The “Main Version” extends the instrumental segment at the start by an extra 20 seconds. In doing so, we get a gradual progression from guitar chords to electronic soundscape, drawing the listener in slowly rather than the instant jump-in from the radio edit track.
A Year to Remember
Kesha’s 2024 was packed with milestones. From being honoured as “Music Icon” at GLAMOUR Germany’s Women of the Year Awards to delivering electrifying performances at major festivals like Lollapalooza and OUTLOUD at WeHo Pride, the singer has captivated audiences worldwide. She also surprised fans with a live duet of her iconic hit “TiK ToK” alongside Reneé Rapp at Coachella, reimagining the track with fiery energy complete with raised middle fingers and an updated lyrical shout to “F-ck P Diddy.”
Adding to her eclectic year, Kesha contributed to Charli XCX’s remix of “Spring Breakers” and covered Lindsey Buckingham’s “Holiday Road” for Spotify’s holiday playlist.
