In a delightful twist for fans of the mega-popular shonen anime series, Demon Slayer is venturing into the world of Nintendo Switch gaming. However, this game offers a departure from the typical anime fighting genre, instead embracing the spirit of Mario Party with its own unique twist.
“Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Mezase! Saikyou Taishi!”, which roughly translates to “Aim to be the Strongest Soldier”, introduces players to a four-player party game extravaganza. Unlike conventional anime fighting games, this title invites you and your friends to partake in a multitude of engaging mini-games, all set in the captivating Demon Slayer universe. Imagine Mario Party but with a stylish samurai instead of the iconic plumber. Just like its inspiration, players will roll dice to navigate the tiles of a board game, pitting their skills against each other in lighthearted challenges. From guessing Nezuko’s hiding spot to other entertaining challenges, the game promises hours of laughter and competition.
However, what sets “Aim to be the Strongest Soldier” apart is its unique day-and-night cycle. When night falls, the devil-may-care atmosphere transforms into thrilling missions where players must hunt down and eliminate demons, mirroring the intense action from the anime series.

While Nezuko, the beloved series character, assumes a supporting role in this game, players will have the opportunity to step into the shoes of their favourite Demon Slayer characters. Play as the determined Tanjiro Kamado, the lightning-fast Zenitsu Agatsuma, the wild Inosuke Hashibira, and even nine Hashira members, offering a diverse and exciting roster for fans to explore.
Despite the massive success of Demon Slayer’s feature films, record-breaking manga and anime sales, and numerous accolades at Crunchyroll’s Anime Awards, the franchise has seen limited entries in the world of video games. “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Hinokami Chronicles” was an arena fighter developed by CyberConnect2, renowned for the “Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm” series.
While the prospect of a Demon Slayer-themed Mario Party-style game may seem unexpected, it’s a welcomed surprise for fans who find themselves at the intersection of both fandoms. Currently slated for a 2024 release on the Japanese eShop, fans are hopeful for an English release soon, following the pattern set by “Hinokami Chronicles”, which arrived in English courtesy of Sega.
Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting crossover of gaming and anime worlds as we await the release of “Aim to be the Strongest Soldier” on the Nintendo Switch.
