In a thrilling development on the UK Official Singles Chart, Benson Boone has secured the UK Number 1 position with his mesmerising track “Beautiful Things”, knocking the legendary Beyoncé from her reigning position.

The rising star, hailing from Washington, has skyrocketed to the summit in just nine weeks on the chart, marking his debut at Number 1 and putting an end to Beyoncé’s four-week reign with “TEXAS HOLD ‘EM”.

“Beautiful Things” isn’t just topping the charts; it’s also dominating the streaming platforms, amassing a staggering 6.6 million combined UK audio and video streams over the past week.

In an exclusive statement to Official Charts, Benson Boone expressed his gratitude, saying, “This is my first-ever trophy and my first Number 1 here in the UK! I want to thank you guys so much for the support you’ve shown this song. There’s so much more to come, I can’t wait for the album. Thank you guys endlessly. See you on tour soon!”

As the UK music scene witnesses Boone’s rise to the top, other notable entries include Ariana Grande’s “we can’t be friends (wait for your love)”, which claims the Number 2 spot as her album “eternal sunshine” secures a second consecutive week atop the UK Official Albums Chart.

Not to be outdone, BTS star V makes waves with his first solo UK Top 20 single, “FRI(END)S”, entering the charts at Number 13. We presume there will be more V singles to come in the future, landing in the UK Official Singles Chart, and if this first solo charting track is anything to go by, V is certainly one to watch.

Meanwhile, Mark Knopfler’s re-recording of “Going Home (Theme from Local Hero)” secures Number 17, featuring over 60 rock music legends uniting for a charitable cause, Teenage Cancer Trust UK and Teen Cancer America. The Dire Straits guitarist created the supergroup known as Mark Knopfler’s Guitar Heroes for the re-recording recruiting the likes of Joan Jett, Eric Clapton, Sheryl Crow, Sam Fender, Joan Armatrading, Vince Gill, Brian May, Tom Morello, Orianthi, Brad Paisley, Nile Rogers, Slash, Bruce Springsteen, Ringo Starr, Sting, Keith Urban, Steve Val, Ronnie Wood, and many more prolific musicians. The original peaked at Number 56 in back 1983.

The new recording, titled “Going Home (Theme from Local Hero)” also manages to top this week’s UK Official Vinyl Singles Chart, making it the most purchased track on vinyl. On top of that, it’s therefore no surprise to see that it also topped the UK Official Singles Sales Chart amassing 15,200 pure sales.

Further down the charts, Michael Marcagi’s “Scared To Start” breaks into the Top 10 for the first time after 10 whole weeks, claiming the Number 10 spot, while rising American singer-songwriter Dasha earns her first UK Top 20 single with the viral sensation “Austin”, the track has been going viral on TikTok with many users uploading videos of them line-dancing to the song.

Alabama-raised rapper Flo Milli makes an impressive comeback, soaring 49 spots into the Top 40 with “Never Lose Me”, charting at Number 23. Additionally, RAYE’s “Worth It” climbs to a brand new peak of Number 33, and Irish dance duo NewEra celebrates a surge in popularity with “Birds In The Sky” returning to the Top 40, hitting Number 34.

The UK Official Singles Chart continues to showcase the diverse talents and dynamic sounds captivating audiences across the nation, with Benson Boone leading the charge with his chart-topping anthem “Beautiful Things”. How long can he stay atop the chart? He’s got to fend off icons like Ariana Grande and Beyoncé, not to mention the new releases of the week.
