Chinese pop sensation Chen Linong has joined forces with acclaimed Filipino band Lola Amour to release their first-ever collaboration, an English-language ballad titled “With You”. Produced by celebrated South Korean hitmaker Hyuk Shin, the track unites artists from China, the Philippines, and South Korea in a moving, minimalist production that places emotion at its centre. This acts as the follow-up to Chen Linong’s single release titled “完美猎人”—which translates to “Perfect Hunter”; and it also follows Lola Amour’s sophomore album titled “Love On Loop”.

A Love Letter Set to Music

Written by Cuurley, David Ligad Yuhico, Hyuk Shin, Lola Amour, and Pio Antonio Benitez Dumayas, with Cuurley acting as Co-Producer alongside Hyuk Shin, “With You” stands out as a soulful, acoustic-driven ballad. The track combines heartfelt lyrics with expressive performances from Chen Linong and Lola Amour frontman Pio Dumayas, creating a sincere and resonant atmosphere. Anchored by a gentle yet prominent guitar rhythm, the arrangement is enhanced by subtle rain samples that bookend the track, adding a warm, intimate texture.

“With You” explores the unresolved emotions that remain after a breakup, drawing inspiration from a real-life love letter written to a former partner. Its lyrics capture sleepless nights, unanswered questions, and an aching desire to reconnect. Rather than relying on heavy production, the track’s sparse arrangement amplifies its intimacy, letting the intertwined vocals of both artists take centre stage against the backdrop of gentle guitar and rain textures.

Building on this intimate backdrop, Chen Linong’s tender delivery grows from a near-whispered confession into a heartfelt plea, while Pio Dumayas counters with a rich, expressive tone. Their contrasting approaches intertwine seamlessly, balancing vulnerability with maturity and deepening the song’s emotional impact.

A Landmark Collaboration

This single marks a significant cultural crossover. Seven-piece band, Lola Amour, consisting of Pio Dumayas, Manu Dumayas, Zoe Gonzales, Angelo Mesina, David Yuhico, Jeff Abueg, and Raffy Perez—who became one of the Philippines’ biggest breakout acts in 2024—rose to prominence with their chart-dominating hit “Raining in Manila”. The track topped Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube Music locally, and the group went on to collect multiple major awards at the AWIT Awards, including “Album of the Year” and “Song of the Year”. That same year, the band shared the stage with Coldplay during their Manila stop, performing alongside Chris Martin.

On top of that, this week they reached a huge international audience by appearing on Drag Race Philippines: Slaysian Royale, truly making global herstory as they sang their song “Misbehave” live during the Lip-Sync For Your Life on episode seven titled “Lip Sync LaLaPaRuZa Smackdown”, where Yuhua and Khianna battled it out to stay in the competition.

Chen Linong, meanwhile, is no stranger to success. First introduced to the public as a standout contestant on the reality show Idol Producer in 2018, the Taiwanese-born singer became a member of the massively popular boy band Nine Percent, helping define a new era of Chinese pop. Since then, Chen Linong has built a thriving solo career, highlighted by his diamond-certified debut album “Unbelonging” and his 2024 project “By The Name of Youth”, which explored the spaces between anonymity and fame, youth and maturity, love and heartbreak.

Hyuk Shin’s Signature Touch

The track’s production comes from Hyuk Shin, the South Korean producer celebrated for collaborations with Justin Bieber, EXO, and NCT. In 2009, he became the first Korean producer to enter the US Billboard Hot 100 thanks to his production on Justin Bieber’s “One Less Lonely Girl”, which peaked at Number 16. His talent for blending pop sensibilities with atmospheric textures elevates “With You” into a true cross-cultural collaboration with international appeal.

Why “With You” Matters

With its stripped-back sound and heartfelt theme, “With You” reflects the growing trend of artists from Asia working together across borders and languages to create music with universal resonance. For Chen Linong, it’s a chance to expand his global footprint. For Lola Amour, it’s an introduction to new audiences beyond the Philippines.

“With You”, by Chen Linong and Lola Amour, is available to download and stream, right now, across all platforms, via Warner Music Philippines.
