Friend of a Friend, the dynamic American indie-rock duo comprising Claire Molek and Jason Savsani, have dropped their incredible new single, “HLS”. This track marks the second release from their eagerly anticipated sophomore album, “FACILITIES”, slated for an early 2024 debut, acting as the follow-up to their previous single “Always on Time”.
Written and co-produced by the duo themselves, alongside Jordan Lawlor as the Co-Producer, “HLS” emerges as a progressive indie-rock masterpiece intertwined with alternative elements and embellished by Claire Molek’s captivating vocals. This highly conceptual track initiates with a deliberate, slow rhythm that immediately enthrals its audience, gradually building towards a crescendo of passion and empowerment. The anxiety-driven tempo subtly expands, teasing the possibility of remaining within its addictive, gradual rhythm.
However, in the last segment, within a span of 45 intense seconds, the duo surges forward with prominent drums, elevating guitar riffs, and intensified bass rhythms. Exhibiting remarkable control, mesmerising vocals, and undeniable instrumental talent, “HLS” stakes its claim as a profoundly memorable composition that lingers with listeners for an entire week, at the very least.
Talking about the track, Friend of a Friend said, “[‘HLS’ is] a song that is really a part of our DNA as a band, it has been with us for a long time and has evolved along with us. We wanted to take all the sadness the song could be and once was and transform that into a place of power.”
To support their new music, Friend of a Friend has charted an extensive tour schedule spanning this year and well into 2024. As well as amassing over 2 million streams for their debut album, “In Arms”, which they released in May 2022 Their upcoming tour dates promise to bring electrifying performances to audiences worldwide, showcasing the evolution of their sound and stage presence.
The band’s sonic palette draws inspiration from a diverse range of influences such as Portishead, M83, The Kills, and Jose Gonzalez, creating a unique blend that transcends genres—incorporating elements of trip-hop, indie rock, classic rock, noise rock, and house music.
Friend of a Friend’s upcoming album “FACILITIES” promises an eclectic soundscape, offering something both nostalgic and entirely new, showcasing their growth while captivating audiences with a musical blend that’s timeless yet futuristic.
