We can’t help but celebrate this week as Irish singer-songwriter Hozier has clinched his first-ever UK Number 1 spot on the Official Singles Chart with his latest hit, “Too Sweet”. You would think that his worldwide hit, “Take Me To Church”, also got the top-spot, but it only ever reached Number 2. Now, 10 years later, Hozier has finally clinched Number 1 on the UK Official Singles Chart.

This achievement comes after a decade-long journey for the artist, who has captured the hearts of fans with this track from the expanded deluxe edition of his third album, “Unreal Unearth: Unheard”.

“Too Sweet” soared three places from the previous week, topping the charts with 61,000 chart units and an impressive 6.7 million streams, making it the most-streamed song of the week in the UK.

For Hozier (real name Andrew John Hozier-Byrne), this milestone adds to his success story, joining his previous Top 10 hit “Take Me To Church”, which reached Number 2 back in 2014.

In an exclusive statement to the Official Charts Company, Hozier expressed gratitude to his UK fans for their unwavering support: “Enormous thank you to everyone in the UK for all their support. I was taken aback by the response for ‘Too Sweet’ and am thrilled people are enjoying it. Looking forward to being back in July for the upcoming shows!”

The accomplishment by Hozier highlights his enduring appeal and showcases the impact of his music on listeners. It also proves to artists around the world that even if you were a global chart success in the past, you always have a chance to go global again and even manage to out-perform your previous hits, years later.

In other chart news, the UK music scene also saw notable strides from emerging artists like Artemas and Dasha. The former managed to reach the UK Top 5 with “i like the way you kiss me” charting at Number 5, and his latest single also made an impact on the chart with “if u think i’m pretty” charting at Number 39. As for the latter, she jumps right into the Top 10 with “Austin” hitting a new peak of Number 8. We expect to see Dasha rise even more in the coming weeks as we’re loving the US rising star’s country track.

Mark Ambor, NewEra, Jungle, Benson Boone, and many more also made impressive strides on the UK Official Singles Chart. You can view the entire UK Official Top 100 by clicking here.

This triumph for Hozier with “Too Sweet” is a testament to the power of his artistry and the incredible durability of his music within the UK and beyond. His track is undeniably catchy and it’s definitely a worthy and well-deserved UK Number 1 single.
