Callum Kerr is carving out his place in country music with the release of his debut EP, “Roots Under Me”. Originally from Scotland, raised in Texas, and now calling Nashville home, the rising singer/songwriter brings together heartfelt storytelling and classic country themes across six diverse tracks. Released via ONErpm and Huff Co., the EP captures everything from heartbreak to high-spirited nights and has already landed him on Holler Country’s radar as one of their 10 Country & Americana Artists You Need to Know. The release of this EP acts as the follow-up to the third official single from said EP, titled “Whatever Gets You There”.
Produced by industry veterans Dann and David Huff, “Roots Under Me” showcases Callum Kerr’s versatility as both a vocalist and songwriter. Reflecting on the project, he shared, “I’m extremely proud of how this turned out. It’s got a little bit of everything—love songs, drinking songs, heartbreak anthems… basically, a country mixtape with all the essentials.” True to his word, the EP explores a range of emotions and experiences, blending small-town nostalgia with personal storytelling to create a collection that’s as relatable as it is heartfelt.
He opens the EP with “All Out Of Me”, a tender and heartfelt country ballad that effortlessly showcases Callum Kerr’s powerful vocals. It’s a stunning introduction, immediately drawing listeners in and immersing them in his deep-rooted passion for country music. Lyrically moving, Kerr sings to his other half, who has helped shape him into the person he is today. A touching tribute to love and personal growth. Overflowing with emotion, it’s the kind of track made for slow dances, wedding moments, and every romantic playlist worth curating.
The second track on the EP, “Used To Love This Town”, leans into a strong country-rock sound as Callum Kerr reflects on a place he once cherished. He paints a vivid picture of a town he imagined building a life in—buying land, raising children, and settling down—but the love he shared there didn’t last. Now, every corner of the town reminds him of what he lost, turning once-loved streets into painful memories. The opening lyrics carry a sense of nostalgia, hinting at the way both the town and his perspective have changed. It’s a striking and emotionally charged track, with Kerr delivering each note, run, and beat with heartfelt intensity and power.
“Whatever Gets You There” marks the third track on the EP, and it’s where Callum Kerr turns up the heat. Flirtatious and sultry, this sexy number will have you feeling hot under the collar. With smooth vocals and teasing lyrics, Kerr doesn’t just serenade you into the bedroom; he does it with heart.
Rather than centring himself, he shifts the focus entirely onto his partner’s desires, asking flirty, open-ended questions with one goal in mind: her pleasure. It’s a refreshing take on intimacy, full of charm and genuine care. Hot, sultry, with a country twist infused with country-rock elements, including a sizzling electric guitar section, this track is full of confidence and sensuality. Callum Kerr, you’ve officially got our attention—now, where’s the bed?
Track four, “Cold Beer Cold“, leans into narrative-driven country-rock as Callum Kerr recounts a fleeting barroom connection. He meets a woman, shares drinks and moments with her, only for her to vanish without a trace—no number, no goodbye, just gone. It’s a clever twist on the word cold, capturing both the temperature of the beer and the emotional sting of her sudden exit. The track builds on the electric guitar energy from the previous song, weaving it more prominently throughout and creating a sound that’s both infectious and unforgettable.
Next up is “I Ain’t Working”, a spirited standout that hits all the right notes as Callum Kerr leans further into his country-rock sound. With powerful vocals and impressive vocal twang, he proves he’s more than ready to take his place in the genre. Lyrically, the track explores heartbreak and the temptation to numb the pain with alcohol—only, as the title suggests, it’s not working. The beat is full of drive, using classic rock rhythms throughout, wrapped around country essence and Kerr’s flawless country vocals. It’s a bold, memorable moment on the EP—and one that’ll elevate any playlist it lands on.
Closing out the “Roots Under Me” EP is “Silver Lining”, a feel-good anthem that ends the project on a high note. Callum Kerr delivers the track with heartfelt energy, showcasing his upbeat side without losing the emotional depth he’s carried throughout the EP. Lyrically, he leans into a classic country theme—that beer can fix just about anything. It’s a familiar comfort within the genre, alongside whiskey, that fans know and love. Filled with playful metaphors and easy-going charm, Kerr offers up a refreshing take on finding light in darker moments. Paired with an infectious, rhythmic country-rock beat, this closing track leaves the EP on an uplifting and satisfying note.
Callum Kerr’s journey into country music has been lifelong. Raised on a mix of country classics from the 1960s through to today’s chart-toppers, music has always been a constant alongside his other passion—acting. While many may recognise him from Netflix’s Virgin River, where he plays young Everett, or the live-action adaptation of One Piece as fan-favourite Smoker, or even the British soap Hollyoaks, where he played PC George Kiss, it’s clear that his heart has always been firmly rooted in music.
That passion reached a major milestone over the weekend when Callum Kerr stepped into the iconic circle at the Grand Ole Opry for the very first time. Personally invited by country star Dustin Lynch, the moment marked a dream come true. “The last time I was at the Opry, I wouldn’t even stand in the circle around the microphone,” he recalled prior to the event. “I wanted to wait until I was invited to stand in that circle. And now… I’ll be able to stand there and sing one of my songs.” A powerful full-circle moment, both literally and symbolically.

Earlier this year, Callum made waves with his CMA Fest debut, and he’s now gearing up to hit the road with tour dates expected to be announced soon.
With “Roots Under Me” already making waves, and his Opry debut officially under his belt, Callum Kerr’s music career is picking up serious momentum. This debut EP marks the beginning of what’s shaping up to be a promising country music career for Callum Kerr.
